Just a post on my Update experience at Cypress Palms - (which is great by the way)

Had our meeting scheduled for 8am this morning & it was very busy. I have just come up from Fort Lauderdale & didn't attend a presentation, they were offering $150 on Amex this time & promised 45mins max. I wanted the money to go towards Universal Studios so went for it.

I must say I found the experience OK.....first it was kinda weird as we had to go off property to Star Island as thier weren't any space @ Cypress. We went in the reps car, which was not very nice - and it was dirty - the rep exp it was his sons car. Me an my hubby are still figuring out how he could be on some sales tip with a car looking so bad.....

Anyhow back to the presentation....he started doing all his small talk stuff and he noticed how small my points are - (very small 84k) he asked how I managed to get Cypress - I explained I got it through RCI before the change. Now I don't know if it was this that twigged in his mind at this moment, that I knew how to play around a little bit - I stated I no little about how this whole wyndham thing worked and just wanted a little update - he said that fine and said due to how busy things are it would probably be shorter, so he went through the normal dribble of Wyn Rewards & other stuff, but I just let him talk....thier was no pressure at all from him, I think he was going through the motions as I already told him I wouldn't really buy from them direct anymore I'd go through resale - he went on to explain about not being VIP an all that - but I said thats fine, those benefits aren't really for me anyway. I further explained I need to make myself knowledgeable on how to maximise my points and make it work for me so I research what I can - he said he kinda gathered that after realising I got my Cypress week through RCI (77k deposited before the change) After 40mins or so, time was up. He drove us back,

We had to see some other person real quick (is this what you call the closer) anyway he was the most grouchyiest (is that a word) person ever. He hardly spoke to us expect to sign off the paperwork, he asked if thier was anything more the sales person could've done to make us buy more wyndham points I said no due to being able to go via resale, with that he signed of the amex gift card, and wrote Resale on one of the sheets....

So....its just to say thanks so much everyone - without this website things may not have gone to plan....I wouldn't beable to afford more points even if I wanted to but, I at least I was armed with info I may not have if I didn't happen upon this site. Thanks......

Ps he made us sign a form that says if we keep going to updates and not buying we don't get anything anymore...1st you are a OPB1 then OPB2 then other...from what I gather is to stop people getting money out of them even though they have no intention whatsover of buying - anyone heard of this?

I doubt it.... The folks at the appt end operate differently then the sales folks - there goal is simply to get you to the update

I didnt buy at National Harbor Thanksgiving and they wouldnt even invite me to an "update" at Bonnet Creek at Christmas. I think they are trying to save a few dollars and a little time by skipping over us resale buyers

No but it would not surprise me that re-sale advocates are being identified by the Sales Force. Interesting update, thanks.

I was once asked to sign such a document about not buying and not being eligible in the future for the giveaways. I'm thinking it may have been during our Wyndham Nashville stay over Christmas 2009. That was one that I went to alone too.

If it wasn't that one, it was when we were at the Olde Town Alexandria location last Christmas.

My rule is simply, do not sign anything except for saying we received the money.

"You've got to sign this waiver of the equity in your Discovery Package".... nope... I'm not signing anything. Bye.
I'm not signing another thing from sales either. I wouldn't even go to their office. Done! Leave me alone... I'm on vacation! :p
