Wyndham customer service outsourced?

I hate the phone trees, and the scripts, and the hold times as much as anyone. But, we’re never going back to a time when companies hire and train human beings to answer phones and fix problems. They’ve found a cheaper way to provide that “service”. Is it a better way? In my opinion, absolutely not. However it is much, much cheaper and that’s what owners and stockholders care about the most. So, that’s what we’re going ro get. Until they find an even cheaper way to do it.

I think we are very close to the cheaper way being AI (Artificial Intelligence). At least for AI there should be no hold time.

Probably so. I actually prefer a chat session, which in many cases are bots, to a phone call. 1) it helps to negate any language barrier and, 2) I can save/print the conversation for later reference.

Chat with a bot works pretty well as long as there is a way to get to a human if the bot can’t resolve the issue.

Agree, EXCEPT, how many times have you timed out of a chat because you walked away or went to another tab and didn't come back in time. My fault, but I can only stand a look at a chat window for so long waiting for a response, then try and multi-task and lose the dang thing.

A ChatGPT AI bot would blow 95% of the live Wyndham reps out of the water in all honesty - while providing accurate answers - though Wyndham might not like the true answers that the ChatGPT bot would actually give customers based upon the real datastreams - so we won't see this coming any time soon from Wyndham were I a betting man.

A month or two ago (so during an earlier version of ChatGPT, I think), I asked it whether I should buy from eBay or from Wyndham. Let's just say it still has a lot to learn. ;)
