Wyndham buying point's

Has anyone ever had wyndham try to buy excess point's from you? On Thanksgiving eve we recieved a call asking if we wanted to sell our unused point's, my wife was on the phone with them I was replacing the hot water tankI told her to tell them no we were going to use them, That didn't sound quite right so after I finished I checked the phone and indeed it was a wyndham phone number. Strange!! has this happened to anyone else?

Beware of these calls. Ask yourself, why would Wyndham need your points?

We used to receive calls like this frequently, with the caller identifying themselves as from Wyndham and even the caller ID stating Wyndham. After talking to the person for a couple of moments, it became very evident that they were not actually calling from Wyndham. This is in general a common scam, and unfortunately some of the companies that try to pull this do represent themselves as calling from Wyndham.

Who knows. Maybe Wyndham is trying to contact owners to buy back unused current year points.

It would be very interesting if this practice coincided with the announcement of Wyndham eliminating points transfers between owner accounts.

If they did indeed do this, wouldn't that be an anti-trust violoation? Using their power over the VOA Trust to vote to eliminate competition so that they could be the exclusive (or monopoly) buyer of such points and to sell them at monopoly rates?

I doubt they would be that dumb to do it since it would be very easy to determine the amount of the damages and anti-trust violations have treble damages. That would be a nice class action law suit to watch.

I usually hate lawyers and class action cases since only attorneys make money. But, in this case, I'd like to see the attorneys get rich since they have become a much more likeable population.
