Wyndham at Waikiki Beach Walk |

We will be arriving in Honolulu on a Tuesday afternoon after a long trip from the East coast. We will be staying for 3 nights before heading to Kauai & then the BI. I originally reserved a hotel room at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach for the 3 days. The base cost would be $159.00 per night. It is a hotel room with a city view and I believe it is a lower floor. I decided to look into the Wyndham at Waikiki Beach Walk using points and found a 1 Bedroom Deluxe Lower Level for the dates we need for 67800 points. It seems like a no brainer to take the Wyndham for the points versus the total of $542.00 for a hotel room but I thought I would check with TUG first before jumping into anything. I think the only negative would have been the lower floor location but I am positive the Outrigger is also a lower floor. Any thoughts?

Waikiki Beach walk

We just returned from Bali Hai in Princeville, Kauai from a week stay. However while we were there I booked a one-night stay at Waikiki BW in Oahu and we flew over there for a day and a half. We reserved a 1 bdrm deluxe upper unit for very low points and when we got there asked to be upgraded and we were to a 2 bedroom upper level on the 10th floor. We could see a sliver of ocean from our balcony and had a great view of Diamond head and the Pink Palace hotel (can't remember its name). As far as upper and lower units, I really don't think it matters if you don't spend a lot of time in the rooms. I wouldn't want to be on ground level since everything is so open. My family enjoyed walking the streets and shops the one evening we were there and ate at a great Chinese resturant just up the block. The Beach is very close (about a block). We enjoyed going to Pearl Harbor, but I'm not sure if we'd ever want to go back to Oahu. The outskirts of the city seemed very run down and heavy traffic made us miss Kauai. We couldn't wait to get back to the one or two highways of Kauai to finish off our trip..

I would stay in the Wyndham Waikiki since it will be a 1br unit vs. a hotel unit. Having a kitchen, living room and dining room is nice.

Wyndham Waikiki

We just returned from the same type of trip, we stayed 3 nights at the WW BW, then went to Maui. We had a room on the 4th floor with an interior view, but we could see the ocean. If it was slow you could probably get an upgrade, but for a stop over the rooms are very nice and roomy...washer/dryer. kitchen, etc. The pool is very small. The property is more intimate than the Outrigger.

The Outrigger is just a hotel room and the city view can be noisy....BUT..the outrigger is one of the only hotels right on the beach, and it is a nice beach. The Outrigger is a 10 minute walk (or less) from the Wyndham property. The Outrigger has a good daily breakfast buffet at Shorebirds, Wyndham has no restaurant.
So if you want comfort and convenience, I'd do the points and stay at the beachwalk....if you really want the beach then it's the Outrigger....I've sayed at both and I like the Wyndham better.
