Has anyone heard of this site? I spoke with someone there who told me that they sell timeshares to corporations that package them for resale. However, the fee to the seller is anywhere from 2X to 3X the annual maintenance fee. The agent said the funds go into escrow until the transaction closes. The cost is obviously high, but if it gets you out of an indefinite liability, maybe it makes sense? I've had my timeshare listed on TUG and Craigs List for over a month, and there hasn't even been 1 inquiry.

This sounds like the new Escrow scam

There are no magic bullets when selling a timeshare, these companies that call you aren't any more equipped to sell than you.

They are much better at taking your money as you feel that someone must be able to sell your unit easier, but what they sell is advertising or escrow service or title search or prepaid maintenance fees, or some other service that once you pay, you will never see a dime, their contract will be for this mythical service, and when you try to dispute it with your credit card, they will win.

Selling any timeshare is done by listing it at the market price, or maybe a little under, on all the low cost or free sites.

You must construct a good ad, you need photos, a web page is a good place to keep all the information.

If it is a floating week, make the best reservation possible and point that out in the ads.

Offer to pay the transfer and closing fees, maybe include this coming years use, throw in your unused RCI or II account or any space banked weeks you may have, something to sweeten the offer.

On Craigslist, you need to cancel and relist at least 3 times a week to stay in the readable area. If you have 2 or 3 versions of the same ad, you can cancel and re-list every day.

No secrets, just lots of work.
If you would like some help making up an ad, email or pm me.

most likely one of the usual scam timeshare resale sites.. problem with craigslist is it only listed on one city..

I would put ad on TUG (here) and get more eye balls at the least.

if you have put in any time of ebay or tug marketplace you will see a lot of units are for sale for $1.00 and a bunch for free..

why pay a scam outfit thousands of dollars when you can not give it away..

want to see more deals..:bawl:

Search the forum archives and you'll find more about timeshareout.com and their M.O. You can also google and see complaints and the various alias's that it operates under....

I'd pay the MF for 2 or 3 years ahead of time and offer it for free in my TUG add, before I'd fork over any $$$ to these guys. I'd at least be controlling my own destiny, and if I got someone interested in the property then I'd be able to ensure the deed in fact get transferred to them.

Did you, by any chance, find Timeshareout on a Google ad at the side of a legitimate resale website like TUG or Redweek?

Timeshareout falls into the category that we like to call Post Card Companies (PCCs). Their general methods are that they claim to take over ownership of your property for a large upfront fee (a big no-no). However, the scam (yeah, that's right --- scam!) is that they get you to sign a Power Of Attorney (POA) rather than an ownership transfer deed.

The POA gives them authority to do whatever they want with your property. They will try to somehow unload it by perhaps listing it for $1 on E-Bay or simply asking the resort if it will accept a deedback. However, you are still the legal owner until the property is legally transferred to another party. Since you are still the owner, you are responsible for maintenance fees.

There have been horror stories on these boards from people who paid these PCCs thousands of dollars to "take their TS off their hands" only to receive a MF bill 2-3 years down the road (sometimes with interest and late fees)!

A more practical and economical option would be to go to the Bargain Deals form and click on the sticky that tells you how to give your TS away for free.

Sage input...

These are the words of a wise man, imho.

OP: Plese don't send your hard earned money off to these parasites. If you do, you'll never see it again --- and you'll ultimately still own the timeshare and all of the associated ownership obligations.
