If you are up for a last minute trip to WSJ for Christmas, Starwood just dumped a bunch of Staroption availability into the pot - all sizes.

If I only had a teleport pod - and didn't have 15-20 people here for Xmas...

Can't imagine that many people that could use 2015 SOs at this point - at least enough for a WSJ stay. Was this seen with online booking?

Yes - you can see it with the "Villa Finder."

You don't have to use 2015 Staroptions - you can borrow from 2016.

Or if you rolled 2014 Staroptions over, they are available for usage in 2015 and 2016.

Oh yeah - those SOs ;)
Even a week in a studio ain't cheap SO-wise

Since Starwood doesn't discount Staroption stays, I wouldn't expect a discount, even for a last minute dump like this.

My guess is that Starwood "confiscated" this inventory for their rental pool, and ended up with more inventory than they could rent, and put some back in the owner pool.

Nice of them, try getting last minute airfare for the Christmas/New Years week...

Seems they have opened up quite a lot of 2/3 bed inventory there through the winter.

Maybe the point hike has made these an unaffordable exchange for many.

My Sheraton Steamboat hypothesis may bear out.

Whatever the reason, I hope the trend continues. One thing I have noticed at WSJ is that they tend to do this for last minute reservations. One time I was able to get a pool villa two days before check in.

I've got a SP reservation for for two nights before. Hoping I can swap that out.

My bets are:
it is the Canadian exchange rate PLUS
the very warm weather in the Eastern US PLUS
the HIGH airfares due to airlines reduced schedules.

Hope not this continues ... as the resort's OWN inventory will be priced lower while the MFs will skyrocket due to unpaid MFs,

From what I have seen, there is a decent chance. I guess it depends on the actual dates.

I think you may be onto something with your weather bet. It's pretty warm and it does not feel like winter has started, other than the short daylight.

Saturday 30/1 is the problem child here. Looks full on hotel and SO inventory.

I also need to check minimum stay requirements before I go changing anything SO is 3 nights. I can see that as it shows zero availability until you flick to 3 nights. That should show a user exception error / warning not zero IMHO.
