Would you pay $28 for a hamburger?

Yes, we have paid over $30 for a burger. The burger wasn't remarkable but the view and vibe of the joint was spectacular.

As of today, the best beef we ever had was from Sir Loin the Angus steer. He ate grass and alfalfa most of his life. He was tasty.

That's how much it is here in Whistler BC at the good hotels. Can't find a steak under $100 at the Fairmont. Lots of big spenders in the world.

Yeah, but CAN$28 is like US$3. ;)

Some people consider the best burger in Seattle is at Beast and Cleaver. Might be something that even @ScoopKona would deem acceptable. :D

LOL You need to get out of the USA more

That’s amusing. I’ve just returned from a six week trip abroad.

More like $21 USD at today's rates.

I’ll add you to the list of TUGgers who can’t tell when I’m joking.

Ok just need to learn about exchange rates then.

I took post #53 to be a joke but I do understand that Canadians are a little touchy when it comes to their dollar's exchange rate with the US. I used to live in Canada and it is often a topic of conversation.

Yeah, I've noticed it's a big deal. I remember at one point the exchange rate was really favorable for Canadians and they were buying up all kinds of real estate in the US. Then when rates swung back in the USA's favor the cost of mortgages and/or property taxes ate some of them alive.

Yep, that was us! We bought our St. Augustine condo when the Canadian dollar was at $1.07. The value of our condo has more than doubled since then and now our dollar is about $0.75. A win win for us.

I remember calling RCI during that time to complain about their exchange rate for an Extra Vacation week I was booking. They had our dollar at around $0.95 when it was at $1.08 . When I told the rep the Canadian dollar was worth more than the US dollar she said that was impossible! Haha! I asked for a supervisor who read the news and was familiar with the dollar values. They made a partial adjustment.

Yes, USA folks didn't like that. Their media couldn't spin any "world's best" out of that :)

And the cdn government. A lot of capital gains taxes at the time of sale.

Yup, as I mentioned. Canadians are "touchy" when it comes to the exchange rate discussion...

For the most part, Americans really aren't concerned with the exchange rate unless they do some type of cross border business. As most any American you run into and they wouldn't have a clue what you were even talking about. Ask many Canadians and probably 8 out of 10 would have a general idea of what the exchange rate is.

Double edged sword as imports are cheaper as well as traveling abroad. I was told in high school that Canada agreed to a haircut against the US dollar.

I lived the 60 cent dollar in university where I learned to get a job paying those USD at school. Made it so it was hard to part with them.

Then I’m paying extra cdn taxes because of the low cdn dollar.

Now usd is like Monopoly money and I have neighours from Colombia and Venezuela where it is even more Monopoly money. It can get ugly real fast is what I learned.

What I find funny is this type of question being asked on a timeshare owner website! Since many here have paid thousands and thousands for one week of vacation a year, what’s $28 for a good burger? Just sayin. LOL

Nope! It may sound cheap but my all time favorite burger is the Whopper from Burger King with a side of onion rings and lemonade.
Impossible whopper on whopper wednesday $3 plus extras...Drop mayo drop ketchup. Light mustard, light bbq sauce. Add xtra lettuce tomato pickles onions. Its my vegan meal of the week... at my BK 3.50 plus tax.
