If it was truly amazing and came with an equally amazing side, yes I probably would.

Five Guys was $32 a few days ago for two burgers, a small fry, and one beverage, and Rick complained that it was not as good as In-N-Out and over twice the price for the same thing. I like Five Guys myself, but Rick has a good point.

Not all that different from what we pay in Canada now. I know I have paid it sometimes and many are that price if you upgrade your side. At least as an American you would be saving almost 40% on the exchange fee.

We ate the original Five Guys in Alexandria, VA years ago. None of the others have compared to it. Sadly it is no longer open.

$32 for TWO burgers, fries and a beverage is a bit different than $28 for ONE burger.

Rick would not pay $28 for a burger and fries! That was kind of my answer. I like burgers with stuff and no buns, and Five Guys does a good job with mushrooms, peppers, extra lettuce, tomato, etc. I consider it like a steak because it tastes as good as a steak. I also love In-N-Out.

White Spot was so good in Vancouver. I loved that burger and went 3 times in a week. This is why I am struggling to lose a few pounds again.

I paid $16.95 for this burger today. Totally worth it.

The Famous Bobcat Bite Green Chile Cheese Burger

Cheddar cheese, green chile, caramelized onions, avocado, thin-sliced tomato, and organic greens with a Chimayo red chile aioli

Nope! It may sound cheap but my all time favorite burger is the Whopper from Burger King with a side of onion rings and lemonade.
I craved those when I was pregnant. Now I can't stand them.

Sounds perfectly delicious.

I craved Mahn Doo, Chinese pickled peaches and Kim Chee. I still like all three if I can find it.

Yep, we sometimes go to fancy steakhouses and they are so spendy that the only menu item which I am willing to pay for is the burger, and it is usually about $30.
Then you have burgers like these that are over $100.

Every private pilot has experienced any number of multi-hundred dollar burgers or breakfasts when a group of couples/families pile into their aircraft and fly to some fairly remote airstrip with a mom-n-pop eatery. The food may have been semi-forgettable or not, but the company and conversation is top notch!

The last steak house I worked at sold a $150 burger made from "yes, we will cheerfully show you the nose print" A5 Kobe Beef. That was blended with a leaner cut of USDA prime because of the ridiculously-high fat content of A5. Two

No sides included. Not even fries. Cheese/caramelized onions/avocado were up-sells. But discouraged. Condiments were scratch made (and also an up-sell). But also discouraged. Foie gras was also available. With "the works," the burger cost $350. Most people heeded the warnings and kept it simple. Ground A5 is something that should be enjoyed as-is. We sold these by the hundreds each week. Was it worth it? Absolutely. But beef that good, I'd just rather have a tartare or a carpaccio.

Next door, Hubert Keller (the nicest celebrity chef in the world) sold a $5,000 burger. But that was a $200 burger which came with a bottle of Petrus.
Unfortunately, neither restaurant is selling those burgers. And my former place no longer makes the entire duck-fat fried chicken. (It was a royal pain -- the whole chicken went into the fryer for 20 minutes, thus putting the fry station behind every time some ordered one.) Hubert closed shop in Las Vegas. And the place I worked at gave up on burgers. Now they only do $65-275 steaks.

Comparatively, $28 seems like a bargain.

just ate at fords garage this past weekend while in st augustine, regular burger was 18 bucks.

wifes chicken ceasar salad was 17!

We eat there quite often. The burgers sre the best in the area, IMO. I also like the Burnt Ends Melt.

Edited to add in answer to the OP: Yes, I would. I actually think I paid $25 for one at The Edison in Disney Springs a couple months back.

I paid $23 for a bison burger at the on-mountain Four Points Lodge a few times this past ski season. Fries were extra and would have put it over $30, so I guess it qualifies. I skipped the fries. It was a "fancy, artisinal burger" on an a brioche bun. It was pretty good and considering the view that came with it, I thought it was a decent value.

We don't go out for burgers here much on Molokai. But I just happened to stop at the Pacific Cafe this afternoon and had a $19 burger. Most burgers are pricey here on the island.

I must admit, this one today was great. It was a Pork Chorizo Shrimp Burger. It had great flavor and the slaw on the burger took the edge off the spice. It was a great burger. It had 4 larger shrimp just under the cheese and slaw. shaka

I like the food as well!

not sure if i had to otherwise put a price on a hamburger it would be 18 bucks...but it was tasty at least!

Would you pay $24 for some tacos? From the Kauai Beach House Restaurant:

Poke Tacos • 24 raw ahi,* ginger, shoyu, cabbage, avocado cream, crisp wonton shells

The mai tai to wash it down would be $18.

Yes, I'd pay it because of the excellent service and incredible view.
