Would getting a EOY resale TS be a good idea as my first one?

11200 points platinum at the elara EOY, $500 plus closing costs + transfer + club dues. $979 EOY MFs

Would this be a good idea as my first TS? I would still be paying $209 club dues every year. I've been looking at the rare 14880 ones that got the same MFs as this one. Thoughts?

That is pretty good. I’m sure the 14880 ones would command a lot more up front, so you’d have to analyze if the cost was worth the better pt/MF over the long run.

It’s enough points to use the system to go where you’d like to go and see how it works for you. You can always add more later.

I’d consider that a very good deal, but the big question is that enough points for you EOY. I own three EOY’s and they can be great deeds, but if it’s not enough points what’s your need and whats the best way to get to your target.

P.S. I own the EY version of that same deed and paid about $5000 plus closing costs

Great deal. I would have jumped on that deal for my first purchase. My first purchase as actually a Elara EY 1-bedroom with the same points allocation.

I think I'd be happier with an annual deed, but these are impossible to find for free.

I would pull the trigger on that any day. Even if it’s not enough points, you can sell it and make money.

Bear in mind that you must pay your club fee (I think that's the right name) every year even if you own EOY. It can make EOY less economical.

I considered that on my first purchase, but then decided it was better to do annual even with the higher price. After the additional fees plus the 500, you are looking at 2500 to 3000 for this eoy. If you purchased an annual, you would likely spend 5 to 6k which would be about the same cost per point, but as stated above, you wouldn't be paying the 209 club fee yearly without having points and you'd have enough points for 12+ nights every year in a 1 bedroom or a week in a 2 bedroom.
