Wkv kierland lockoff room types

I am considering buying a westin kierland 2bedroom for the primary purpose of personal use and occassional staroption trades.

Can anyone tell me if the property is a two one bedroom lockoff similar to sheraton Desert or if the kierland is a one bedroom and one studio (in their two bedroom configurations)

Nope, looks like the standard one bedroom and one studio breakdown (from a two bedroom lockoff).

Actually the 2BR at WKV is considered to be two 1BR units, one is a 1BR Premium and the other just a 1BR. I have gotten good II exchanges with the smaller WKV 1BR unit; a 2BR at Marriott Grande Ocean in Hilton Head and a 2BR at Marriott Newport Coast Villas.

Kierland, Mission Hills, and Desert Oasis all have the attribute of being sub-dividable into two one bedroom units which trade as such in Interval (with a Starwood preference, no less). Which is why SDO is such a bargain -- cheap to buy, reasonable MF's, and good trading power.

I would think II would classify your deposit as two one bedroom deposits. I often see LK (limited kitchen) one bedroom deposits in II and they are most usually Starwood deposits. I know when I see LK that this is the smaller side of the the Starwood lockoffs. I think Starwood labels them one bedroom deluxe, but when I was in one at Kierland Villas, I'd say they were anything but deluxe. Adequate yes, but deluxe no.

IMO, they'd be classified the same as SDO.

Just a note that even the smaller bedroom at WKV now has a King size bed. It used to only be a Queen, but was changed out as part of the unit upgrades last year. Both sides also have separate private balconies. The larger side has a fireplace and more of a full size kitchen. Neither side has a traditional oven, just a combo microwave/convection oven which we have never figured out how to cook a pizza in. But there a plenty of pizza places nearby.

Thanks for the update, it's been awhile since I've stayed in the smaller 1BR at WKV and wasn't aware they made that change. It's a much welcomed change for those of us on the tall side. Now if they can only replace the small refrigerator with a larger one.

Correct.

The premium one bedroom shows as a "K" (full kitchen) in Interval; the deluxe one bedroom shows as "LK" (limited kitchen).

Which are the same Interval designations as Westin Mission Hills and Sheraton Desert Oasis.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I must be getting old cause i dont recall these "fluff" terms like deluxe one bedroom when it is REALLY standard one bedroom bothering me so much.

Or it could be my memory has faded and it has always bothered me.

It can be very confusing - because in common usage, who knows if Deluxe or Premium is superior? As I recall, Starwood even had it wrong on their webpage at one resort.

I recall pitching a "reservation specialist" at The Nines in Portland grief (highly recommend this hotel if you are in Portland).

When asking about room types, they said i was booked in a superior room, and i said i didnt want to pay for the upgrade and a standard room is sufficient.

He replied that superior rooms are the lowest end rooms at the hotel. To which i replied, "i guess your GM doesnt comprehend the definition of superior."

People just make life more complicated than it needs to be. I be sure to give people grief when things like this happens cause the people complain enough about, it is our only chance at getting it fixed.

Ever notice the smallest size soda you can get at many fast food places is a "Medium". I think even my five year old knows that if you have three different sizes, the one in the middle is the medium.

Does the one bedroom Deluxe have a door on it? Does not look like it does from the picture? Thinking about renting soon and would like some privacy from the kiddos.......

The one bedroom deluxe at Westin Kierland (the smallest room they offer) has a door separating the bedroom from the living room area, where your children would be sleeping on a pullout sofa. I actually cannot remember if this is a regular hanging door or a pocket/sliding door, but indeed there is adequate privacy between the spaces.

The bathroom area is nice and also fairly big for the space. The kitchenette felt a little cramped if you were planning on using it.
