WKORN August crowds?

We will be staying in a studio unit the last 2 weeks in August. I was wondering if anyone has an idea how crowded the resort might be this time of year? We have never traveled to Maui in August only spring and fall and it has been years since we stayed at this resort. The last time was when the North villas were under construction. Does the studio have washer & dryer?

Do they still have pool service and more than one restaurant between the two properties?

Thanks

I've been there the first week of August and though the resort was full it didn't feel too crowded. I think August is still relatively high season.

The studio does have a washer and dryer. The same unit that the 1BR has, and similar to the units in the south property. The rooms are a little smaller, but the studio has a lanai. They don't have the small foyer between the studio and 1BR like the south property has. Each unit has its own door out to an outdoor breezeway - no inside hallways.

The pools are shared between the properties. You can go to either property.

There are three restaurants on the properties. The one you know on the south property, a similar one on the north property, and an Italian restaurant also on the north side. You can also easily walk to Duke's, located on the next property north of the resort (Honua Kai).

The board walk is now completed up to the Lower Honoopilani Rd. so you can walk to the Supermarket Times store (used to be called Star Market). There's a pizza place and the Jaca Jazz Cafe in that shopping center.

Thank you so much. I am glad the studios have a washer & dryer. Our new financial reality has kept us away from our beloved Maui and although we have never stayed in such a small space I am so thankful just to be going.

It will be paradise regardless of the room size. Enjoy your trip!

For a couple, I think the studio is more than adequate. The kitchenette is even very well-equipped, compared to other resorts, with a range, full-size Refrig., dishwasher, and microwave.

Thanks for the layout Denise. I have seen the studios in the South property when we stayed there in a 2/2 years ago and I thought they did an excellent job in equipping the studios. Our teenage son will be traveling with us so not a lot of privacy but we will make due. I still have few more years until we can travel sans child :) I am hopeful there will be other young teens there he can make friends with and not just be stuck with mom and dad. Big change in kids once they hit the teen years:wall:

This week there are plenty of teens. Hope your son has similar luck in August!

I will stay at WKORV north, from 8/24. I will bring two teenager sons, they can make friends with your son :)

Thanks that's good to know. My son is 14 and I was worried most families would have started back to school already. He won't start the new school year until September.

My kids school starts on 9/5.
My boys are 17 and 16, look for thin Asian boys :)

We are just going to miss you. We are travelling with 3 kids 18, 16 and 9. We will be at WKORV August 5-12 and then Aulani from August 12-16.

We were there the last week of July 2011... busy but not crowded... We didn't
have a problem getting dinner reservations anywhere even with a party of 5.
