With Point Protection, when does the Cancel window close?

I have listed Grand Desert on Airbnb. I have a reservation for 12/6-8 with Point Protection which I must cancel today if there are no takers. Do I have until 4 pm to cancel? Or even later? What exactly is LAST MINUTE? Vague, as usual!

Booking dialog says:
By adding Points Protection to your reservation, you’ll avoid losing your points in the event of a last-minute cancellation.
Points Protection for this reservation costs only $49.00.

From the knowledge Base:

"Points Protection Program
Points Protection is a one-time purchase per reservation that allows you to avoid forfeiting points should you need to cancel your Club Wyndham reservation less than 15 days prior to your check-in date. You have until the day of check-in to cancel your reservation without losing points."

If I spoke English as my only language, which it is, I'd interpret that as you are now too late. You could have cancelled prior to the date of check-in.

Being as it is Wyndham speak I have no *** idea.

You should cancel now. If Wyndham doesn't return your points, call WYndham and complain.

I still see this in the Cancel dialog. I am hoping someone will book it by 4 pm. I dropped the price by $50. Let's see!

If Mirage is available for $159 and Mandalay Bay for $169, why would anyone pay $289 for Wyndham Grand Desert they are asking for? I cut mine to $150, that would be ~$11/1000 points for my 26,500 points!

You have until midnight eastern time, the day of check-in. Crazy, huh. Plenty of time, lol.

I never realized the rodeo is such a big thing in Vegas. My brother is there now. It's quite a thing!

I've learned long ago that instead of calling the Wyndham Customer Service line or looking through the Members Directory, if I pose a Wyndham question on TUG, I will eventually get the answer. ;)

Best answer! It makes sense to me!
My son is there too to celebrate GF's birthday!
I made over $900 on a second reservation at Grand Desert originally booked for my son.

I canceled my 3rd reservation at Grand Desert at 3:00 PST my time and got back my 26,500 points.
2 out of 3 worked. 3 x $49 well spent. All in all, a good move!

Omg! An inquiry just came in after I canceled! :(

This person wanted to book 12/5-8 on November 29. She made an inquiry instead of a request! When I responded saying 12/6-8 is available right now, she said she had already booked it directly at Wyndham. Now she wants 12/6-8 because of additional family coming in! She made another inquiry at 3:17 pm. I am not sure f I saw it! Now, I am willing to rebook for her because what I canceled became available! But she hasn't responded yet!

Now, she says her son decided not to come when they couldn't find availability at Wyndham!

I wish I had waited till 9 pm my time!:( But a rental business with flaky customers can be a pain!

Something like that is better done via a phone call, instead of message tagging.

It's against Airbnb rules! You don't have the renter's number until after a booking is confirmed!

Looks like I lost a cool $400 or $500 be canceling too early! C'est la vie!;)

I believe a text or email is better than a phone call especially when you don't hv a phone number to call lol. The written word will not disappear as a conversation can easily be forgotten.

I've lost far more money falling asleep or forgetting to cancel something (at the 15 day mark) than I have by having a last minute renter come in in the final hour. You just never know.
