I have come to believe that the difference between Elite and Premier ratings with II is more important that first thought.

What is indicating that to you? I still see people with unrated resorts getting excellent exchanges into elite resorts, so am not sure where the resort quality fits in the picture.

For the Premier requests I had the highest TDI for that resort, reserved and deposited a full 13-14 months out with a requests in more than 13 months out. This has happened several times where I matched the Elite over the Premier and in two of the instances, the Elite deposits were only deposited a few months out and that request put in much later and matched very quickly (within a few weeks) In addition, one of those where the Elite appeared to win out was a studio matching over a 1 BR. This has specifically been Grande Vista vs Willow Ridge. I only see two possible conclusions andI actually believe both are likely true. That Orlando has better trade power than Branson MVC to MVC and/or that the Elite vs Premier actually matters when searching for Elite resorts. Also I haven't gotten requests I thought I might with WR even using a w BR at times.

Trade power matters for two things. One is “can I get the exchange at all”. Two is “if there are multiple requests for the same thing, who gets it first”

Sometimes the second thing isn’t important. But sometimes it is.

I think it may be more about the locations than the resort ratings. I own GV, HL, and WR. I have never noticed any difference in trade power between GV & HL even though HL is a premier resort and GV is elite- but I have noticed some subtle differences when comparing either of the Orlando resorts to WR. Especially with anything other than a summer week at WR! I had to book an Oct week the first year as that was the only thing left after the transfer was completed and man that deposit couldn't see much!

I also own HL and I do feel there has been some variation there as well. While I didn't include it, I also had the same request in using HL where GV matched when deposited much less than 10 months AND the HL request was in place requested in an optimized fashion. But I haven't seen the same volume of info. I do feel that Orlando has a better trade power than Branson though and I've arrived at that conclusion based on other issues, esp comparing to RCI's TPU data. BTW, that suggests to me that LV and Branson are the same trade power all else equal other than the week 52 in LV.

If I could like this twice I would!

Two is relative- what/how many are you competing against with your request will vary.
Some times you may be top trading power among current requesters and match quickly, other times it may take longer but as long as you have the gateway trading power there is a chance.
This is why requesting early, even before units are deposited, is important for maximum exposure.
