I dont get it:
Hilton has vacation homes in 3 major sites- Florida, vegas and Hawaii. And they just continue building at these sites.
Except for Vegas - absolutely nothing in the Western states-
If an owner wants to vac in CA or colorado - the owner has to stay in an affiliate resort- Intrawest, Valdoro, Grand Pacific etc.
I dont get it, How can they comete with a Marriott or Hyatt?
Does anyone have any insight on this strange strategy.

An I have found it VERY difficult to get anything through affiliation during the times many of us wish to travel. These affiliate locations are difficult even through RCI for an equivilent quality to HGVC.

Honestly, we are now looking for an EOY Platimum or Gold Marriott just to diversify our ownership. 2 HGVC's is actually MORE then enough unless you like to do Orlando or Vegas EVERY year.

To us, a perfect blend of ownership would be 7K HGVC pts. and 3BR (2+1) Platinum L/O Marriott. Oh well, if only we came to the realization of HGVC affiliate limitations sooner and could outlay the $$$ to grab a MGV 3BR L/O.

benjaminb13, you haven't been here long enough to hear us old timers moan and moan about this same issue. Most of us like Hilton, but have NO idea why they have adopted this silly strategy.

Though I had a salesman tell me to wait another 18 months and we should be seeing some real changes in this 3 location strategy!!! I'll believe it when I see it!

Or, if they do develop new locations they will probably build new high end properties as they are doing now in NYC, HHV & Ruby Lake, and they will charge more points per week. It seems to me that Hilton has gone after that high end market over the middle income families.

We do have one resort in Colorado. I take great pleasure in telling the rep when they want to talk to you about adding weeks or points that if they would build in some new places there would be a better chance. Last trip to Vegas I made a point to tell them that I just bought a Hyatt week because they were in so many different places. I still like Hilton but now I have 7000 Hilton points and 1500 Hyatt points My time is used up.

I myself have 7000 points- when I couldnt go to hawaii this year - And decided to vac in CA- I had great difficulty - Vegas isnt really for children---Pacific Marbrisa isnt even opened yet ---- Palm desert is too hot in the summer-

Luckily I was able to land in Marriott newport coast- no thnaks to the Hilton which works with xclusively rCI - and rCI does not have any other 5 star resorts for xchange xcept Hilton.
When I purchased I didnt understand that many HGVC properties are affiliates only- like Bay Club- marco, Sanibel Valdoro etc.

Unless a person lives in Hawaii of Florida- or gambles- HGVC may not be worth the money---

Are there any plans in the works to do something about this? I t would be great if a HGVC rep could see these posts and share his thoughts.

The rep I spoke with is aware of TUG. I think there are HGVC people that do read the threads, but they don't post, at not least as HGVC spokespeople.
