Wilderness Club at Big Cedar

Bluegreen Wilderness Club at Big Cedar
I would love more information about these new restrictions - a reservation specialist told me last week about limits as to the number of units we can reserve at one time, and extra fees of $99 per unit. My husband and I are Gold, have owned for 20 years, and we're ready for our kids to take over the use of the points (AND the maintenance fees!). But with all the changes, we are worried about saddling them with too many future problems. Johnny Morris and his Bass Pro "partnership" with the Branson-area resorts have resulted in a "different face" for these resorts, starting with Wilderness Club, We have 7 deeds, all at the Wilderness Club! And who knows what else he will change with his billions of dollars.... Hoping to hear from anyone! Thanks!

This is from our Bluegreen correspondence. We are also Gold. You can make three name changes a year (anyone other than an owner constitutes a name change) at the Big Cedar Wilderness Club property. I originally thought it was for all four of the properties around Big Cedar - but as of now, just Big Cedar. It will also cost $99 to put another name on the reservation. But the big thing is that it must be done 31 days out, so once you get closer in there are no name changes. So if you can't travel last minute, you are out of luck letting a family member or friend use it. Or if you are delayed getting there and want to allow someone else from your party to check in - also out of luck. This is the part I find a bit distressing - since we had that happen once and luckily they were still allowing us to put our friends name on it so she could check in ahead of us.

Here is what happened with my name change for a Big Cedar - Wilderness Club points reservation. This is a 2024, nuanced situation.

1. I logged in to Bluegreen Owner website, checked the reservation, clicked "edit reservation information" and saw that "add new guest" was sort of grey. At the top of the screen, they indicate that you might be able to call the Premier Service phone number. Since you are Silver or higher, they may allow you to use a "voucher." However, and this is speculation, I believe that a voucher will not work for this property. I am not at Silver, so I did not call them.

2. I saw that I could click the Add New Guest button, where it now gave out the main BG number (Club Services) in a popup. (I remembered something that had told me that I was supposed to call the Big Cedar property for this change, but I seem to have been mistaken.)

3. I was trying to change the check-in guest on a reservation that was over 30 days later. This will probably not work for shorter than that interval, so be warned. I believe that this is covered in a recent email blast that was sent out, and somewhere on a rules page on the website.

4. I called the main BG number, hit 1, and was prompted to give the guest name. I also asked that their email address be on the reservation. I found out later that this was not done, but I updated it manually later.

5. I was now forced to pay a $99 fee over the phone for a "Guest Certificate." The agent sent the reservation info to both me and the new guest.

6. I was told that I can do this kind of change three times per year. This was my first time to have used a "Guest certificate" this year. This may be different for other people or other properties. For example, I looked at another reservation at a different property, and I can easily edit the guest's name and other information. The Big Cedar reservation page is definitely different. I did not get any questions about why I needed to make this change.

I am almost done. However, they are trying to make this really difficult.

I noticed that my email confirmation page had a new potential charge on it - $99 for a "Housekeeping fee" - but I was hoping that my guest did not have to pay anything additional when they check in.

However, I found out that this was the way a "Guest certificate" is billed and presented on the reservation. Obviously, I already paid this, so it can be disregarded.

Transparency! Deterrency!

I was told that to stay as a guest at Wilderness Club you had to have the certificate from the owner (who must "gift" it and not rent it). There are page after page of rentals for the week of Thanksgiving all by the same guy (Joseph TRP) on VRBO. He advised: "We appreciate you for showing interest in our listing. We are a property management company and we prebook directly to our owners and we then advertise them on VRBO. Once booked, we will send the final booking details anytime from the time of booking until within 14 days prior to arrival. We look forward to hosting your stay." He is telling me they do not require certificates? Is this Wilderness Club relisting these cancellations and selling them?

Do not rent from someone like this.

Beware of anyone with a large number of rentals.
Bluegreen does not allow any commercial renting at this time.
You could pay and then not be allowed to check in.

They 100% require paid guest certificates and no change can be made 31 days before check in.

Read all the info above.
