Why would you not get tested for Covid-19

Been tested twice. I can testify it's not too bad. The first nostril is easy, the second one is the one that is quite annoying.

I think the techs spend less time in the first one to make sure you don't drive off. Then, they really 'dig deep' on the second

I signed up for the Quest antibody test last week. Did the blood draw on Friday, got the result last night.

Both my wife and i were both super sick in early January. She actually ended up in the hospital twice for that. As it turns out my results were negative...

Not sure if i should be bummed or happy that I came back negative...

As for the test for an active infection, i think i would only do that if i was feeling sick, or needed to be tested due to work, travel or something else that i wanted to do.

I would get tested if it was the way I could get in to see my mother in her elderly care facility. I would get tested for antibodies to give me the courage to go back to teaching next fall.
Yes! I responded earlier, but if I would do this so I could my mom in her assisted living care. I miss her so much .

I keep thinking about my last visit with her. It never occurred to me that it would be months before I could see her again.

I don't know but I do know I do not want to get any test that would result in contact tracing being done through me.

I definitely would try and get tested if I had symptoms. Here in Vancouver, they were only testing basically if you were in need of life-saving measures, otherwise, you were told to self-isolate for 2 weeks. I did just find out that Quest laboratories has an antibody test available to the public. So I will go there and have one done, mainly because I have people in my life that are immunocompromised.

Our local 911 systems are keeping COVID 19 positive household tracked in their databases so first responders are prepared if they get called to that home for some reason.

yeah, not sure I want my medical info in a database like this.
I understand your apprehension of letting big brother know your business but I think first responders should know what they are getting into if the need to go to someone’s house with Covid. Not only do medics come out on the call but fireman do too. They need to be able to be prepare (suit up wth PPE) to protect themselves. They are risking their lives for yours.

That’s a great point about the PPE I hadn’t considered. TY!

I chose to be tested b/c I have continued to have close contact with many people in my work travels.

Indiana will have over 120 testing sites as of tomorrow, another 30 within a week. In preparation for restaurants, salons, and many other businesses allowed to open the 11th, there were lines today as many business's want all of their employees tested before opening so they have a baseline. (Covid 19 test, not antibody)

Very true and I will add they are not only protecting themselves.....but also the entire department. Many rural towns run small police, fire, ems systems. You can't have the entire department/shift go into quarantine because of exposure.

I would get tested any time, or as many times, as needed. Would I trust the antibody test yet? Not sure.

That is why I am waiting to seek out the antibody test. There is a lab here that does it for $125 but I want to wait until my doctor tells me the best one.
