Why would I enroll my week in DC?

Dear All, Thank you for this informative discussion.

I signed a contract to MVCD in Orlando and currently have a Silver week in Village d'Ile de France.

My question would be, is it worth to pay $19380.00 just to gain additional 1500 DC points with an annual maintenance fee of $753.-? Is it really worth the money? I've made my down payment of $1938 and the balance to be paid within 120 days.

If I decide not to pay the balance, should I just ignore the executed contract and forget about the down payment?

Thanks in advance.

Is your France week already enrolled in the DC, or did you perhaps agree to have it enrolled for "free" with the purchase if the 1500 points? Having your France week enrolled may have value to you, but there are cheaper ways to get that done other than paying $19K to get a few more points and getting your week enrolled.

When did you sign the contract. You have 10 days to rescind, and if done properly, you would get your down payment back and nullify the contract. If you do nothing, they can come after you for the rest of the $$ that you owe. Ignoring it is not in your best interest.

Another consideration is changing family dynamics- are you at an age where you can foresee traveling with adult children and/or grandchildren, or want to travel with firends? A biggie for us was the potential to rent points for ease of booking an additional unit at a reduced price, with the comfort of making the reservation rather than booking a rental on Redweek.

Excellent example. Plus, you can 'shop' points and find some good deals on expiring points. Or (as others have mentioned) you can pad both sides of a great legacy week exchange with points stays. This really extends the week with flexibility an better value.

@Fasttr Thank you for the prompt reply.

I'm past the 10 day cancellation. I signed the contract 3 Jan during our vacation in Orlando and only yesterday did I find this forum :(.

To answer your other questions: No my France week is not enrolled, it is still in it's classic MVCI program and alternating it yearly to MR points/II deposit/renting out. I've been a member since 2004.

So yes, I bought the additional 1500 DC points for $19380 but this is the first time I've heard about enrolling my MVCI week for point. It was mentioned though that the value of my silver week is 1775 which give me a total of 3275 per year.

I don't want to get into trouble by not paying the balance but if there is away to cancel it is much better.
