Why Won't They Leave Us Alone?

After my killer 200K HH points OU last year, not a peep the last 3 times I’ve stayed at W57th. We’re staying again in a couple days, so we’ll see if they fish. Fairly open schedule, though we want to do a lot of cherry blossom walking all around the city, so if it fits in our schedule and a decent offer (should I have 125k as a minimum?) then maybe I’ll bite.

I find at Wyndham it varies widely by resort. Some are high pressure, others not.
If I do go to an update for the perk they usually back off when I told them I just bought a beautiful 1 BR in St. Thomas for $1.

Our experience with Marriott and Vistana is that a simple no seems to do the trick. They've been a little more persistent at Vistana Villages or Vistana Resort in Orlando. That said, if they are asking we are usually saying yes. I only say no to Wyndham to get them to pony up more gifts.
We took advantage of a discounted stay at a Marriott in Palm Springs and that required a presentation. The staff, and manager, were very pleasant. We declined the offer, received our free dinner coupon, and cash incentive, and left. There was no pressure or follow up. They shared what they had to offer, it didn’t work for us, and we concluded our visit. I respected their professional and respectful approach.

We go to many presentations, just for the incentives, first making sure we get as much as possible from them. The presentations need not be contentious at all. We set a timer for 30 or 60 minutes as we don't agree to 90. We just keep changing the subject well away from timeshares and have a pleasant conversation until the timer goes off and walk away with our freebies.

As an MVC owner, I can't visit a resort without being clobbered to get an owner update. They start before I get there, while I'm there, and they call me even when I don't have any stays coming up. I stay current on our ownership, so these meetings don't even have anything new to me to discuss! I'm deciding right now to turn them down every time, and continue not returning calls.

We stayed at Worldmark Seaside a few months ago, and the only reason we agreed to go to meeting was specific benefits that we were guaranteed included in our membership. Unfortunately, that was not at all true, and furthermore the meeting was brutal with no acceptance of our common sense disinterest. Very sad that this has us reluctant to agree to this misery again.

It shouldn't be sad that you are now reluctant to agree to misery. It is a blessing.

Nothing they say to entice you to attend is ever actually discussed during the presentation.

You have not visited Greensprings or Powhatan in Williamsburg, VA.
I just visited Powhatan and, yes, received the "owner's update" call at home the week before we we to arrive. Of course they offered $300 in a Visa card AND offered $200 in a card for friends who were traveling with us. It all went as expected, they were not too pushy (as compared with other presentations we've attended) and we later had two great dinners for our group (10 of us total) on their dime. Depending on the reward, I'll spend 60 minutes (for owners) or 90 minutes (for guests) listening to their drivel and telling them no multiple times. It's a game: I get their money, they get nothing for their efforts!

You need 150K HH to get a standard room at the renewed NYC WA.

On my CA OU - I was singled out to have my OU cancelled - I still got my 120K HH points for the meeting. When they were giving me my points, I looked over on their desk and I saw only 1:$300VC, 4:$200VC, and 3:resort credits from $150-250. I've had the talent of reading upside down for 40+ years.
