I am seeing so many Sheraton Broadway Plantation TS being giving away for free at the bargain deal section. I am wondering if there's something going on at SBP that people just don't want it anymore? Any one has idea what's going on with that?

thx.

Resorts Owned
WKORV, WKV, 2-SDO, 4-Kauai Beach Villas, Island Park Village (Yellowstone), Hyatt High Sierra, Dolphin's Cove (Anaheim)
All of the voluntary Starwood resorts have a lot of cheap and free resales - it's just the nature of the market.

You can rent at the resort for well cheaper than the maintenance fee in most cases. Plantation Phase 2 br is over $1,100 per year now........

The only time of year it would remotely make sense to own a 2br at SBP would be summer, even then you could rent a beautiful condo oceanfront for the same $1,100 or cheaper. To add insult to injury, the Plantation phase 2br (even in peak season) is only worth 67,100 Staroptions, which will only get you a small 1 bedroom at HRA, Hawaii, etc.......in Platinum season, if you can find one available 8 months or less.

You would literally be better off to go to the presentation at SBP, say NO, walk outside and light $20k on fire and drive off and leave it smoldering in the parking lot of the sales center. The 2 very distinct advantages of burning the $20K in their parking lot are 1) You will never pay the maintenance fee and SVN fee on a useless ownership (that only converts to 22,000 SPG points for the low low fee of $119, which would allow for a whopping 2 nights in a Category 3 hotel..........imagine that, $22,900 up front investment, over $1,100 per year in Maintenance fees, and you get 2 nights at the Sheraton Convention Center which isn't oceanfront either, WOW) and 2) it would be their mess to clean up, you never want to burn money and then have to clean it up yourself.:hysterical:

Thus, they are being GIVEN away..........in many cases, folks PAY to get out of them.

Hmmmmmmm .... they're still great traders for those who calculate the value of what is received in return via II. :)

I'm as unhappy as the next person about the increase in maintenance fee. They pulled the "WSJ model" (increase the reserve) instead of the "SVR model" (levy a big SA) to get the resort back in tip-top shape. Will the fees ever go down to the nice low levels of a few years ago? Probably not ... but the fees should go down once the refurbishment is complete.
