Why is Marriott Vacations struggling?

While somewhat unusual, there are timeshare sales people that are honest and honorable, I know some. Just like there are Automobile dealerships that don't do markups even on high demand vehicles. Then there's the dealership in MS that screwed a serviceman out of his Dodge Demon so they could sell it t $100K over MSRP.

I find it very amusing that some of you think timeshare sales can be honest about anything. Outside of work I’m sure there are some who are “fine people” but I would wager that the moment money is involved they change. Anyway, at the end of the day I just hope none of you buy direct.

Have you ever been to a sales presentation with Disney Vacation Club? Their salespeople (I refuse to call them "guides") are very low pressure. Although they can still bend the truth. Our DVC salesman stated he was an owner. After talking for a while and telling him about the other timeshares we own, including Worldmark, it turned out the timeshare he owned was Worldmark. Said he was in sales there for many years before moving to DVC (this was at the Grand Cal in Anaheim). He said to give him a call if we had any questions about Worldmark. Only tried to sell us DVC once - Riviera. We told him we owned at Boardwalk and really didn't need any points there. That was the end of the sales pitch. Of course no $300 gift card, just a nice Riviera pin my wife gave away as a prize in her class.:)

Nope. Zero interest in their product.

MVC used to be like that when they were under the Marriott umbrella. Then it went to hell and got worse when they went to the point system.

I would agree that under the Marriott umbrella, MVC was a much better company with good customer service and competent staff.
