Are all the prices that depressed, or are there still resorts/weeks where there is still a bit of value?

You're more likely to find above base-line values at TS-resorts owned and operated by major hotel chains, like Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, Sheraton, etc., as they have internal exchanges among their affiliated resorts and linkage with their hotels. Thus, they have a better draw than stand-alone resorts.

Personally, I am very surprised what this timeshare went for on eBay

I know it is Key West, but it's late summer (hurricane season). The current economy, the time of year when some of the best deals can be had on eBay, and the state of timeshare resales; this shows as John stated previously what the value of anything is (what someone is willing to pay).

I watched this on Ebay, and could not believe that it went for 12K

I figured it would go for perhaps 5K tops.

The price paid was much too high in my opinion.

notice how the guy selling that timeshare didn't respond to the question being asked?

Q: how many years is the timeshare deed for?
A: Maintenance fees are $814.00. Thanks, Jeff

I had no interest in purchasing this timeshare at any price....

....so I didn't read anything in the description, just the size unit and what week it was for. I just watch certain timeshares and areas to see what prices things are currently going for.

I'm not familiar with this seller, but they do have 100% feedback. But really if a seller is going to post the question and answer on their listing, they should pay attention to the question that is being asked. Apparently, it made no difference to those that were interested in the timeshare. I never thought that one would even reach $5000. You just never know.
