Who's been to Atlantis on an Exchange?

What week did you use to get it? How far in advance did you make your deposit? How long did it take to get an exchanged week?

We're hoping to get the Harborside Resort at Atlantis for the summer of 2008, we own at Sheraton Vistana (resale) and will make our deposit 2 years out with II. What are our chances on getting a 2br there?

Why aren't you doing an internal exchange through Starwood? (Or do you own a resale?)

OK, I'm confused. I thought resales at Vistana were eligible for SVN staroptions. Or, is that only some units/phases?

Is summer the only time you can go? I don't think II gets many summer deposits from Harborside.

It's only Vistana VILLAGES (not Vistana RESORT) - confusing, yes? :D

I have traded in twice using a Renaissance Aruba week 16 1 bedroom. Both exchanges were in January. One, a request made 6 months in advance, confirmed 4 months in advance and the other an instant confirmation 3 months prior. Both were for one bedrooms.

If you are not trading a peak summer or holiday week at Vistana then you likely wont have the trade power to get the Atlantis.

If you are trading a summer or holiday week then your chances improve ever so slightly but you still may not have enough trade power to get a two bedroom. You may want to consider a 1 bedroom which will vastly improve your chances.

Atlantis is one of the hardest trades to get within II if you need a two bedroom. Very few get deposited so there will be many other II members looking for the same trade as you and many will be using stronger trading units who will be ahead of you on line.
 
You may still get the Starwood preference with II. Put in a request and keep an eye on the sightings board. 2 BRs are few and far between. Only phase 2 has 2 BRs. They are 50% sold out, so there are still some developer deposits to be had. That is your best bet.
 
Our Marriott Hilton Head HP week 9 pulled 2bd mid May week. Went 2005 and it was wonderful.

Atlantis has had multiple developer deposits the last four years during the month of May which as made it easier to get in during that month. There wont be develper deposits during the summer.
 
We used a July 4th Marriott Summit Watch 2 bedroom and got a 2 bedroom (Phase I has 1 & 2 bedroom units by the way. Phase II is the only phase that has 3 bedrooms though). We went in May 2002. Put the request in 10 months early; confrimation came in less than a week. Totally lucky. We received a developer deposit as the resort was still fairly new back then. Up until the new phase opened, developer deposits seemed to have dropped off significantly. Don't know what the developer deposit situation is now with the new phase open.

Honestly, I don't think you'll score a 2 bedroom summer unit. I'd make plans to rent, or else downgrade your search to a one bedroom to increase odds of a match.

Before I became a starwood owner, I exchanged into the atlantis using a Maui Schooner 2 bedroom summer week. MS is 5 star and the week included July 4th. But, I snagged the Atlantis because of tip from a fellow tugger on the sightings page. No search was involved. I would be guarded about your chances of getting your summer week you want at the atlantis. Your starwood preference will help but I just don't think that you will have enough power to pull a vacation two bedroom week at the atlantis with Vistana resort week. An off season week would be lot easier. I would have backup plans in place. Ben
 
I got a 1br unit Jan 2005 exchanging a 3br Westgate Town Center (Orlando). I think the exchange was a few months out (maybe Oct 2004), a result of the bulk deposit post on TUG. It wasn't my idea time to go (though I had a great time), but none of my timeshares likely would have pulled a prime vacation week, so I figured this was my best chance to get there.

I got it with a Flagship NJ week. I have also pulled some in with my French lick springs villas but they were with in 14 days. You do tend to see Harborside more in the last 30 days and lately you have been seeing it more often.
