I know better than this and if anyone shouldn't miss calling in, it should be me. We were looking to book our 2013 weeks starting May 11th 2013 using the 13 month rule. I had looked at all the call in calendars ahead of time and thought I knew my call in date. For some reason I was thinking I would call in this Wednesday the 11th. Yesterday afternoon at about 4:30pm I was thinking that a Wednesday call in on the 13 month rule didn't sound right, it is usually a Monday. So I checked again and realized I was supposed to call at 9:00am Monday. Whoops...

So I called of course and still had no problem booking our weeks. We weren't booking high demand weeks except for Memorial Week. Of course Memorial Week was tagged on at the end of two Harbour Lake weeks, so there wasn't an issue since I was calling 1 or 2 weeks ahead of most other owners trying to reserve at the 13 month mark for that week.

One benefit was that I was only on hold about 1 minute before I got a rep and the call was done in about 5 minutes total. Great experience.

Nice to hear you got what you wanted.

For next year try setting up an electronic reminder (to do, appointment, task, etc.) in your computer, smartphone, or web.

Every little bit helps. Congrats again.

Thanks, though the problem is that my reminder would have reminded me to call on Wednesday. I have no idea why I thought Wednesday was my call in day. I double and triple checked it and still somehow tied our checkin day (the 11th) to the 11th of April. Not sure how, but I did.

Thanks for the reminder, and I'm glad you got what you wanted anyway. :) I can't believe it's time already to call in for next year - geeeze, WHERE is the time going this year?!?! Anyway, I just wrote a note to myself to get on the phone this coming Monday.

Could have been a lot worse. From experience I can tell you that getting the date wrong for your wedding anniversary is not easily fixed with a one minute phone call.

Uh oh. :D

My problem isn't that I don't remember the correct dates, it's that I can't seem to keep track of the calendar. So I'll know the date off the top of my head if you ask me when our anniversary is, but when the day rolls around my mind might not connect a 'Today Is An Important Day' reminder with what the calendar says. (We celebrate a lot of Important Days one or two days later.)

Glad you were able to secure the dates you wanted!

When researching the inventory release dates for our MGV units, I found that the dates on the PDF of the 2013 inventory release calendar did not exactly match the inventory release dates when using the inventory calendars with drop-down menus found on the my-vacationclub.com website. For the weeks we are interested in reserving, the PDF file shows the inventory release date as Monday, April 16... while the drop-down menus on the website show Tuesday, April 17 as the inventory release date (we're using the 13-month window).

I believe that the section with the drop down menus only applies to DC point based reservations. Point reservations have a different inventory release schedule than weeks. So they won't correspond.

DOH! Can't believe that even with this reminder and the note I wrote to myself, I still forgot to call in on the right day this week. (And it was supposed to be Tuesday, not Monday like I said before.)  But anyway, I did manage to get the consecutive Gold-Gold-Plat weeks that I wanted to book, just with Friday check-ins instead of our preferred Saturday.

Next year isn't set in stone, though - our Steve will be getting married in July and I don't know how much that might throw a monkey wrench into our usual Memorial Day vacations. Lots of thinking to be done ...

Too bad you can't go for 3 weeks after the wedding- that's when you'll really need to unwind and relax:doh: On the other hand, you just may enjoy escaping form all the planning....

That's more like what I'm thinking, that it might be better to plan next year for the two weeks over Labor Day instead of Memorial Day, give a week to Steve for his and Denise's honeymoon, and maybe take a few 3-4 day trips using MRP's or cash discounts. Or go all the way the other way, just convert everything to DC Points and wing it. We'll see. A lot will depend on when all the pre-wedding hoopla is planned - I'm trying to be a good Mother of the Groom and not interfere with what the wedding party decides. ;)

But in the meantime it's safer to book our usual, especially with no fees for canceling and re-booking. Dioxide mentioned something about being a guinea pig for the revised Reservation Procedures rules - hopefully Marriott's applying those rules and penalties about as often as they did the old rules, which is to say never. <knock on wood>
