As a spin-off on the celebrity thread, who would you MOST like to meet?

Me first:

I'd like to meet Adam Lambert, and some of my favorite politicos. Those aren't realistic, though.

I'd like to meet a doctor who can fix DD's medical condition.

AND, I'd like to meet a dozen or more of my favorite TUG Buddies! :hi: :hi: :hi: I "know" so many of you online, and it'd be such fun to know you in person too. I've met a few, and want to meet more!

Wow! Thought-provoking indeed!

Assuming that the meeting would be in such a way that you could have a conversation with the person, I think I'd be most interested in meeting authors of some favorite books, or directors/writers of favorite movies - to get a better understanding of why or how they chose what they did. But at the moment can't be more specific.

On a strictly ego level - I'd like to meet the queen of England - just to say that I have. :) She has been present and a part of so many of the changes to our world. She's been the queen since well before I was born. I think she must be an interesting character - although I'm sure I would only get her practiced, public persona....

I think I'd like to see a few movie stars in person, as I never have. Mostly the men I've found attractive over the years - to see what they actually look like! There are several comedians I'd enjoy to spend some time with: Ellen DeGeneres is one.

There are some musicians I'd love to hear in small settings - to REALLY hear their voices or instruments.

I'll have to think more on this - ;)

I have met my fave singer (Billy Dean) a few times, and James Dupree (much newer!!) Monroeville (Bluegrass band -great) I certainly wouldnt mind meeting George Strait, or Alan Jackson:)

Authors - I have met Ann Mullen at Massanutten a number of times. She is certainly in my top 5. I would have loved to meet Robert Parker, I would like to meet James Patterson, or Nora Roberts.

maybe Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn - I have always adored them both!!

This seems strange...the two names that come to mind first are Lady Ga Ga, and Bill Clinton

I cant say why, but Id like to understand a little better, how they think. Both impress me in the same way, knowledgeable and thoughtful

I think I could learn a lot from either one

I may have actually met Bill Clinton...I think we both used to frequent a bar called The Tombs, in the basement of the "1789" in Georgetown (Washington DC) in the late 1960's

Only living, since you can't meet the dead:
  • Bill Clinton
  • Benjamin Netanyahu
  • Queen Elizabeth II
All of them for historic, political and social views of their time.

Just meeting someone doesn't really appeal to me as much as really knowing some of these timeshare fanatics, which is my favorite hobby. I would like to be friends with a few people here on TUG, close enough in proximity to sit down and have coffee once a week. It's an impossible dream.

I am thinking of Starr, Elaine (of Texas), Stacey (who leads a very interesting life), Emmy, Denise, Sterling, Boca, Bruce, Michael, Chris, and a lot of others, too. I keep waiting for a timeshare addict to suddenly come to TUG that lives nearby.

I would love to be friends with Bill O'Reilly, too. I have read all of his books and feel I know the guy. He is a very good person and very misunderstood by half the country.

Cross-Country Bus Trip.

This seems strange...the two names that come to mind first are Lady Ga Ga, and Bill Clinton
Years ago the 2 radio guys on the main talk station during afternoon drive time occasionally indulged in an on-air game of Cross-Country Bus Trip -- i.e., imagining they're going to be seated on a bus side-by-side with somebody for a l-o-n-g time.

One guy would say something like, "OK, you're going on a cross-country bus trip. Would you rather be next to Lady GaGa or Bill Clinton?"

The other guy would pick 1, then present the 1st guy with a different forced choice: "Cross-country bus trip -- for your seat-mate would you prefer Roseanne Barr or Judge Judy?"

The game would go on like that for 3-4 minutes, with appropriate groans & comments, etc., back & forth between the 2 on-air personalities.

The bit was good for filling some airtime before Traffic & Weather Together.

Now, now... I find most most political entertainers tiresome.
I could, for example, list my own favorites (i.e. Bill Mahr)...
But ya' know, there's plenty of windbags to go around.

Really? I don't think ANY of the tv and radio talking heads are "very good people." I think they ALL use a shtick to deliberately polarize the American public based on political extremism, and while they're contributing irreparable damage to our system they're also proving themselves to be a bunch of phony hacks who'll do anything for money.

But I would like to meet any of them, to see what they're like in real life away from the cameras and microphones. I wonder if any of them are truly able to separate their celebrity from themselves.

I'd like to meet my children when they reach their 30's and their children if they have any. Frankly, I can wait the 30 years for this to happen (my kids are 2 and 3) as time goes too fast already. Now I just need to do everything in my power to make sure I can make this happen.

Famous people? Ehhhh, who needs um.

After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"
For me, pretty simple . . .

Bruce Springsteen but only to discuss his music and creative process . . . no politics please.

I would also like to meet author Peter Jenkins ("A Walk Across America" and "Looking for Alaska").

Might be fun riding on a cross-country bus trip side by side with Dan Jenkins (Semi-Tough, also Dead Solid Perfect).

I've been thinking about this one for a while. I don't get star struck. Famous
people are just people but if I had to choose, I agree with Cindy, it would be
Bill O'Reilly.

Dead

Both of my grandfathers. They were passed long before I was ever born.
As far as someone famous Theodore Roosevelt, hands down.

Geoffrey Chaucer, hands down. That dude was a hoot, I'm sure.

Second choice: Wm. Shakespeare.

Third choice: Li Po and Tu Fu, together in one room at the same time, with the ability to understand classical Chinese.
