I traded for Surf Watch for check in May 3..my unit code is for ocean side. What building should I ask for on a high floor?
I had to cancel Barony for the week prior due to chemo treatments so I may be spending some time on the balcony for this week. Thank you!!

The Ocean Dunes building is the only building at the Marriott Surfwatch Resort which is closest to the ocean (and it's actually about 150 yards to the beach from that point).

I hope your Interval International exchange will get you into that particular building as the views will be interesting for sure.

.

You will have a direct view of the ocean. But still, you must use the wooden deck to walk to access the deck.
Please enjoy Surf Watch.

Be sure to request Ocean Dunes building. We just had an II exchange into the same unit/view code and they acted like they were doing me a big favor by “upgrading” my unit to that building based on my request even though our exchange was into that unit type. The SC resorts handle requests a little different and there is no guaranty they will keep you in the same unit type. So be sure to request it when you get the pre arrival email.

Thank you for your help. The three buildings I can see are tidemark, and ocean marsh (by the main pool.) Those are considered Oceanside which is what is on my confirmation. Were you "upgraded" to Ocean Dunes which is the closest to the beach?

I did mean Ocean Dunes building. That is where the Ocean Vista views are. OCOE is Ocean Vista. Not Ocean Side.

It's a stretch to ask for the Ocean Vista Building (Ocean Dunes) for May. If you do so, make sure you also include the 2 Oceanside buildings you mentioned. The HHI resort tend to be less likely to give you the view of the exchange than many other resorts so you may be downgraded to Garden view without recourse per II's exchange rules. Just hope for the best and expect the worse and. you'll be OK.

I own in the garden, which you call the worst. I have stayed in the ocean side and I prefer the garden. In the ocean side you look out on to the swimming pool. In the garden we look out on the pond. The picture that SW uses is one that is looking on to the pond. It is quiet and we love it back there.

We also liked the garden view overlooking the pond.
Plus, it gives us our daily walking steps to the cabana and to the beach.

I also enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Garden view. The only downside is that there is no covered parking.

I personally would be just fine with GV though I do prefer the under unit parking. Still, I think most would consider GV a downgrade for a beach location. I think the difference for SW is less than for Barony in this regard.

Here are a couple of examples of possible views from an ocean side location (Tide Mark Building, upper floor).

I hope I didn't mess up my reservation for Surf Club. We also have an II trade and it shows ocean side on our Marriott Account. We wanted to stay to extra days so I booked two days in another Ocean Side room hoping / expecting, we will stay in the same room all 9 nights. If they downgrade the II to garden view then we will either have to move or our paid two nights will also be garden view and we will have overpaid a bit for them.

I may be wrong, but my thought process as to whether or not a view category for an II exchange is honored would be based upon whether or not that view category gets booked up by MVC Abound points users booking directly through MVC.

Unless MVC pulls that inventory strictly for II exchange guest, I could see the business model being to allow MVC points users the opportunity to book the more expensive, best views direct and allocate what’s left to the II exchange guests. I would think there is a hierarchy whereby Marriott to Marriott exchangers have the best shot. From a business perspective and since your selling the virtues of points reservations, I just don’t see them actually pulling better, more expensive views for II exchange guest.

Of course, it could be that the majority of Abound points bookings made are from owners being economical and booking the lowest cost units, leaving the better views available for exchange guests. Just because we typically will pay more for a better view doesn’t mean we’re in the majority or in some cases a larger unit doesn’t mean we’re in the majority.

The resort is motivated to have you in the same villa for all 9 nights, and the 2 nights booked OS are guaranteed into that view type, so it’s very likely your II view will be honored. Just make sure you tell the resort you have 2 resy numbers you want combined.

I beliege when they send out the pre-arrival email, there’s a place in the requests area to list additional reservation numbers to link together. That said calling in addition to the pre-arrival form is always a good idea

Contact the Rooms Controller at Marriott's Surf Watch and ask them to link the two reservations together.

Be sure to tell them that you are willing to waive your Villa cleaning on day 7 as an incentive for them to keep you in one specific room location (they'll save money and you won't have to move or be bothered by a full Villa cleaning during your stay). Remember, you can always wash your existing towels and bedsheets yourself if that is something you really need to have done.

Enjoy your stay!

I do not feel that request is possible. Housekeeping always comes in to clean our villa on day seven; when we are staying more than seven days.
