Which RCI unit to buy to trade into DVC

Wow, thanks for the HGVC info. That's interesting. If you get a great deal via resale on HGVC, it would take a long, long time to break even on the upfront money you would spend on DVC - even SSR resale (much less Disney's developer prices).

If you're interested in buying HGVC also take a look at the HGVC listings from the following recommended resale agents on the HGVC forum.

NOTE: Remember these are asking prices and the HGVC Vegas resorts have the lowest MF.

We have HGVC and were able to get a 2bdr and a 1bdr, at BWK for July 2010 and a 2 bdr at animal kingdom villas for a second week in July. But we love HGVC resorts. So buying HGVC was our 1st choice and DVC was the icing on the cake.

Maybe you need to look at RCI Points somehow with your Hilton points.

I don't think there is a regional block for HGVC, but there sure is for anyone owning RCI Points in Orlando.

Try again tomorrow. I had a hard time getting the HGVC RCI link to come up and it's very slow at the moment.

Make sure you're changing the checkin date during your search. You can only search up to 10 weeks at a time using RCI Weeks (default is set to 5 weeks) or a month at a time using RCI Nightly.

I made two reservations using the weeks side and one on the points side. Whenever I look I tend to see more rooms on the points side. Remember when using HGVC points you can set up a ongoing search, by phone with HGVC , by paying the reservation fee but you don't give them any points until the reservation is actually confirmed.
