Hello lovely people. We attended a HGVC timeshare, and while not interested in retail, we discovered this site and have learned a lot about TS! We are thinking about trying a TS, and were leaning toward HGVC because we are Hilton Honors users. But the more I read, especially about HGVC dropping one of their Scotland affiliates and the confusion about the Max program, the more uncertain I am.

I'm wondering which TS might be best for us to dip a toe in. A bit of info about us: Near retirement age, fairly active, at least a month off each year + long weekend trips.I can imagine using a TS in Hawaii or other beach area every other year and otherwise using points to stay for a week or more in other locations.

For Hawaii, a less busy island/area/resort is a strong preference. We prefer smaller resorts in general. (A view is more important than a swim-up bar and karaoke.) We are okay with 3-star, but luxury is better! We like good food & quiet, upscale bars. We like cities (SF, NY, Tokyo, Osaka, London, Florence, Rome, Prague, Vienna, etc.) but also love nature/national parks. Vegas is of no interest. We were quite interested in Craigendorrah until the latest news. Would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you in advance.

It's hard to tell which is the best as everyone has their own favorites.

I always tell folks to "rent" a few different weeks and take the Timeshares and Timeshare systems for a test drive. This will let you see what you like, but more importantly you'll discover what you don't like and you can begin to narrow down what may work for you.

One thing I can advise is to buy resale and not waste any time with anything in the Westgate Timeshare system. Westgate does not treat resale owners well.

Best of luck!
