Where Would you Stay, Lakeshore Reserve or Marriott Cypress Harbour

For those who have been at Cypress Harbour and Lakeshore Reserve, which one do you like the best.

If you had to choose between a Deluxe Studio at Lakeshort or a 1BR at Cypress Harbor or one of the other resorts that offers a 1BR, which would you choose? We haven't stayed at any of the Marriott resorts in Orlando, but are thinking about it for future use. Using DC points and only have enough points for the choices noted above. I haven't researched to see what the Deluxe Studio provides and how it differs from a 1BR or a standard studio. Any insights would be appreciated.

This is where I find Lakeshore confusing. They have different 1BR and studio configurations.

II considers the "big" 1BR side of the 2BR deluxe a 1BR unit with kitchen, they consider the opposite side a 1BR with limited kitchen.

After talking with Marriott they consider that side with the limited kitchen a deluxe studio. The 1BR deluxe is the lock off side of a 2BR unit. The 1BR standardard is the "big" side of the 2BR deluxe.

So I would go for the deluxe studio at Lakeshore Reserve over a 1BR at another Orlando Marriott. The only things lacking are a little bit of space, oven, and the washer and drier. I think it has a full refrigerator and small stove-top. The bed is also segregated in it's own room.

BTW, Cypress Harbour only has 2BR units.

It is very comfortable for 2 people. PM me if you'd like pics of the Shadow Ridge unit.

I don't know about the microwave being a convection oven also, but I did confirm with Marriott through two calls that the deluxe studio doesn't have a washer and drier. Of course that doesn't mean the phone rep knew what they were talking about. They didn't seem to have easy access to the descriptions for each type of configuration and it seemed like they had to go ask someone else.

One thing to potentially consider (in addition to which one has the nicer rooms) is can one be accessed easily without using precious DC points? Note: if you're going to trade your Marriott II legacy week deposit into either one -- then my point below doesn't matter.

I traded two Worldmark deposits into two Cypress Harbour units during Spring Break 2012. I started the search listing all the Orlando properties and Cypress Harbour matched quickly. I then narrowed the second search to just Cypress Harbour and it matched quickly as well. This is for the first week of April 2012 so its a desirable Spring Break week (we go on a Disney Cruise second week of April).

So.....while Lakeshore Reserve is undoubtedly nicer, Cypress Harbour appears to be very easily accessed with a companion trader like Worldmark....saving those precious DC points for the very difficult to obtain reservation. Plus because Cypress Harbor is only 2BR units you can use a 1BR deposit ($300 MF in WM) to get it, plus the $154 trade fee.

We're heading off for Lakeshore this weekend. Staying in a 3bdrm townhome. I'll report next week. So far it looks like great place to stay.

That has been my experience as well. It's a newer configuration and everyone does not seem to have gotten the memo yet. Hopefully when these type of units get more use, the reps will have better information.

I had a renter get placed in an "accessible" Deluxe lock-off unit at Shadow Ridge. Because the microwave/convection oven is over the cooktop, it is not "accessible", so they place a microwave in the cupboard. Hence no convection oven feature.

Still wondering about the washer and dryer at Lakeshore!

If someone can advise me how to upload scanned documents to the site I can provide the floor plans for these units.

The delux studio indeed does not have a washer dryer but there are apparently washer dryers nearby as posted in another thread.

My preference would definately be as follows - 1 bedroom deluxe then 1 bedroom then delux studio then studio.

The only thing I think that is not good about the one bedroom delux side is that the balcony or lanai as it is called over there is not outside the bedroom like it is in the normal one bedroom unit. It does however have acres of space and will seat 8 at the table. I think point value wise if you are looking at units sleeping 4 the normal one bedroom is probably the best value as it can easily sleep 4 and has all the amenities and luxuries.

At the moment there are very few 2 or 3 bedroom units available in II and mostly seem to be normal 1 bedroom and studio lock offs.

Greg, great points. I hadn't thought about saving the DC points and using another deposited week to trade in. I have never tried to trade a smaller unit into a 2BR only resort. Does that only work using a 1BR or could you do the same thing with a Marriott studio unit?
