Hi - we are flying into Richmond, VA airport on our way to Williamsburg. We're meeting friends at the airport who are flying in from their home. We are looking for some place easy to get to to grab a good but casual lunch as we leave the airport or not too far from it. Any suggestions? I am not familiar with that area. We are also trying to decide whether to drive to Williamsburg on 64 or scenic 5.
Thanks!

Let's see, it's been a while since I've flown into RIC and made the drive to Williamsburg, but I seem to recall a Bob Evans or an Aunt Sarah's Pancake House very close to the airport.

As for the drive, after a long day of travel and flying, I prefer the I64 TO Williamsburg . . . and then the scenic trip back to the airport when I fly home. And btw, it isn't "that" scenic . . . perhaps not worth the stop n go through the little burbs along the way.

There are several restuarants near the airport, but to the west, in the opposite direction of Williamsburg. As you come out of the airport, go west (left) on Route 60, and you will find Aunt Sarahs, Waffle House and several fast-food types within a mile or two.

If you head directly to Williamsburg in I64, you will have almost zero choices of restaurants along the way, and almost the same thing along Route 5.

The only place on Route 5 though is a very good restaurant, Indian Fields Tavern. It's about half way between Richmond and W'burg.

Indian Fields Tavern
9220 John Tyler Memorial Hwy
Charles City, VA 23030

Reservations may be needed.

Enjoy,

If you like Mexican food there is a wonderful casual restaurant called Mexico right outside the airport. Not sure but I think you turn left as you leave. Great food!

Please make sure you stay on the main drag. There was a robbery/murder last night in that area. It's the first in several years, but just be careful.
If you go straight to I64, there is a popular bbq place called "Pierces BBQ" on the way to W'burg. It's been years since I've been that way, so I can't tell you how to get there, but you can google it.

The Sandstonian is a family run lunch restaurant on Williamsburg Road just east of the airport. VERY casual but very good and reasonable.

There is next to nothing in the surrounding area of the airport, heading east to Williamsburg. Pierce's Pit BBQ is not nearby, it is in Williamsburg. Indian Fields is great, but call ahead first, as they are not always open. Have a great time in Williamsburg.
