Where To Find ‘Authentic’ Mexican Food in Seattle

El Taco Maestro

The work crew helping me get my house in Bellevue ready to sell told me that this was their go-to place.

I have also enjoyed the El Camión food trucks. I'm not a person to judge what is "authentic", but I have found them very tasty and definitely not traditional gringo Mexican. It also feel good when I see Mexican day laborers queuing up at lunch time.

The best green chili and chile rellenos is in our kitchen, wherever we go. Rick has been known to pack frozen or bottled 505 green chiles for our road trips or for Maui. We are considering that for our next few trips, especially the driving trips.

We were disappointed that 505 chiles were not at Maui's Costco this last trip. Now Rick is trying to figure out how to transport them in his luggage for August. I think we can go 3 weeks without, but he doesn't think so.

That is always a good indicator. At our Florida home, we have found a couple of great Mexican food places that are popular with many Latino workers at lunch time. One is truly a hole in the wall -- the back side of a Hispanic grocery store where you sit outside on picnic tables under a roof overhang. Fantastic (and very reasonable) food! And you know it's authentic when the Tripa and Lengua tacos are popular.
