Lambert's in Ozark, MO? Yes, I know what and where it is. I'm just questioning the "best" category. Maybe "most touristy" would be better. My sister and bil live in Ozark and they don't choose to eat there.

Melt Bar and Grilled, which was one of "the best" in Ohio, is a chain. We've eaten at one of their many restaurants near us. I would call it the "Meh Bar & Grilled".

Like all those 'Best of. . . .' opinion pieces. They are either touristy joints or mass market outlets. Any 'family run' or caring small business can be an area's 'BEST' on any day. The catch is consistency. If they consistently buy top quality, fresh ingredients, and prepare them well, day after day, they will score highly.

Took a look at the linked article. Of note, there is a listing for Frederick, Maryland for Jerry's Place, which is actually in Prince Frederick, Maryland. Prince Frederick and Frederick are about 90 miles apart by the quickest route, which takes an hour and 39 minutes if the traffic on the Capitol Beltway isn't horrible. Hopefully the choice in what places to list was better researched than how to list them, but I doubt it.

I agree these type of lists are very subjective. I have a hard time including chain fast food places like In and Out Burger on list like this. The burgers are good, and they certainly have lots of fans, but there a couple of local places i would rate much higher..

Likewise Roys in Waikiki is great, but i don't think i would rate it as the very best....

I’ve eaten in a few of the “best” and they wouldn’t be on my list except “Places to keep from starving if there’s nowhere else open”. A chain chili parlor is one of the two best restaurants in Ohio???? This is one of the most absurd list of “best” I have ever seen.

If you haven’t read it yet, don’t.

Cheers

So in ALL of California, home to some of THE most amazing restaurants ever, the very best they can come up with is an American food place in Los Angeles, and an IN-N-OUT Burger in Salinas??? Seriously? I mean, come on. In-n-Out burgers are good, but there are thousands of better places to eat.

I'm calling shenanigans.

Dave

This is hilarious. California Restaurant Sweepstakes runner up: the Jack-In-The-Box in Modesto!

Why is the Commonwealth of Virginia not in bold print?
I am going to explore that eatery in Richmond, VA on my next visit.
