Where is best place to purchase TurboTax Deluxe this year

I just found a great deal on TurboTax Premiere through Fidelity.com (I guess you need to have a Fidelity Investment account). You can get the online version for free or the download version for $5 plus tax.

@#1 Cowboys Fan I guess it might be targeted. You may be able to stack that with a credit card offer. My Chase cards have $5 cash back and $20 cash back with my Marriott Amex card.

Costco has the Turbo Tax Deluxe Version for $55.99
Includes 5 Federal E-Filings
Also includes a State and $10 credit for the cost of a State E-File

Amazon has the same version for $55.99
Same number of Federal E-Filings and a State
NO $10 credit for State E-Filing

I’ve been using TurboTax for many years, but just purchase H&R Block this year. It was on sale for $22.50 for the federal and state download.

Anyone use TaxAct? I see good AmEx offers if you have an AmEx credit card.

I use TurboTax Deluxe for my personal taxes.

But for a trust, TurboTax Business has some deficiencies, so I've switched to TaxAct for Estates and Trusts.

I looked at my Fidelity account and found the $5 offer on the Premier version. Then did a google search and found the same offer on the Intuit site (maybe because I have an Intuit account?) for $5. Booked it and am good to go. I've paid $40-$50 each year at Costco for the Deluxe version and always had to download it from the Intuit site anyway. This appears not different, and it's the Premier version at only $5 ! No brainer for me.

Is it very difficult to do a trust return?
I have one brokerage account in the trust, not much activity, lots of dividends to be reported on a K1, and foreign tax credit on some of the dividends.
my lawyer/cpa has moved back north.

Deluxe is available on Amazon for $45 plus $10 Amazon gift card.

While the forms will be available on the Deluxe edition, the step by step walk through is available on the Premier edition which covers investments:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/compare/desktop/

When I download my tax information from my broker, it fills most of those forms. I use the desktop version of the software, not the on-line version.

I replied to rapmarks privately, but I will be glad to place that information here if there is interest. Do that many of us prepare our own trust tax returns? Trusts are different than a personal tax return. A trust requires a Form 1041 tax return while a personal tax return is a Form 1040.

DrQ mentions TurboTax Deluxe and Premier. Those prepare a Form 1040 return and are for personal taxes. Those programs will not work for a trust.

Also, DrQ mentions downloading your 1099 directly from the brokerage into TurboTax Deluxe or Premier. However, if you are preparing a trust 1041 tax return, neither TurboTax Business or TaxAct for Estates and Trusts have that downloading feature.

(Sorry if I'm confusing anyone. The government makes this tax stuff so very complicated.)

This is good information!

Yes thank you.
My cpa had the worst time getting the foreign tax credit to transfer to me. That was really important because all income was transferred to me

Costco has dropped it's price this morning
Save $11.00 from $55.99
The display says the price is good until 1/26/25

I have to get over there
You really don't need to go to the store. TurboTax is no longer available on CD. When I purchased it, I found that it was only available by download. (Remember that I'm using the Deluxe version, but this probably applies to Premier as well.)

So you should be able to purchase it from costco.com if you're a member - check the price there.

Has anyone tried this? Google "turbotax version comparison"

Looks to me like anyone can purchase the desktop version of Premier for $5. I've done exactly that.

I see Turbotax on Amazon for $47.99.....is that the best anyone has been able to see?

While I think of it, can FIVE people really file for one purchase?

if so, why don't YOU, me, and THREE other TUGgers 'split' the cost?

There is only one software key. I don't know how many computers it could be installed on. Do you think everyone is comfortable sharing their financial info?

TT 2024 has an annoying bug:
We have an inherited annuity in which we are taking monthly payments. We received a 1099R with box 7 marked 4D as a distribution from a death benefit of a non-qualified annuity. This should exempt it from RMD withdrawals and I have verified this with the annuity administrator, but Turbo Tax keeps insisting on wanting the minimum RMD for this disbursement when it performs its final check and reports it as an error.

In the previous editions of Turbo Tax, this has not been the case.

I completed five tax returns with one purchase. Free federal efile, but each state cost

Just curious....were the other four returns for relatives, your friends, etc....

I simply don't know how anyone best utilizes "Five Federal efiles..."
