I used to stock up on jawbreakers but don't like a couple of the flavors. :D I feel like treating myself but it's hard to choose between root beer barrels, starlight mints, lemon drops, and on and on. What are your favorites?

Werther's? The butterscotch ones? I loved Callard and Bowser butterscotches, but they don't make them anymore. Remember Regal Cherry Sours? Also gone, although there's a company that claims they're bringing them back....

do cough drops count?

Halls Vitamin C Defense Sugar free citrus blend
Ludens Cherry

Definitely Werther's... the originals. Anything else Butterscotch is 2nd on the list.

Jolly Ranchers.

I really like lemon drops as well, but most of the flavoring is on the outer part, so you end up w/ a tasteless lump after a while. The whole point of hard candy to me is to enjoy the flavor for a long time.

When DH and I got engaged, I went over to my girlfriend's house in the middle of the night to tell her the news. I woke her up by throwing lemon drops at her second floor bedroom window!

Butter Rum Lifesavers are my favorite but are hard to find (Amazon carries them for almost a buck a pack in a 20-pack package).

Werther Originals and the Sugar-Free version

Brach's Butterscotch Discs

Jolly Rancher fire (cinnamon flavor and so good)

Werther's Original Candies.

On our entry table sits my grandmother's old carnival glass dish in which she always kept lemon drops. To pay homage, I fill it with Claey's lemon drops. I do mix it up with other Claey's flavors from time to time. I'm fond of the Anise, Sassafras and Cinnamon and my kids like the Green Apple, Wild Cherry and Root Beer. All are very good.

My favorite is cinnamon disks. Followed closely after by Newman's Organic Cinnamon Mints.

As an aside, when Jerry was going through chemo, lemon drops did the trick for him with the upset tummy.

Hadn't heard of the Claeys or the Newman's Organic Cinnamon Mints before. I might have to give those a try. I love the Werther's hard candy but can't have them in the house because once I start with those I can't stop.

Candy

Brach's cinnamon discs
Werther's Original (My daughter calls it "old people's candy" because "the old ladies in church kept it in their pocketbooks.")
Hammond's Cinnamon candy canes
See's vanilla, butterscotch, and cafe latte lollipops

Are you originally from Colorado? Hammond's Candies started near North High School in Denver. I knew the family well and grew up with the kids in the middle of the bunch. It's only recently become more national.

2nd Favorite.

No. I first discovered Hammond's candy canes in a store in Winston Salem, NC. I ordered them online once and then discovered this year that World Market has them in Charleston, SC as well as a gourmet cooking store here called Southern Seasons. The regular cinnamon is my favorite (I don't like the filled ones) and the cherry and apple pie are also very good. What is your favorite Hammond's candy? Their web site offers a lot as I recall.

We recently took our grandkids to Hammond's for a tour. I agree on the cinnamon hard candy (any of them) because I love cinnamon.

The business has grown and changed a lot, but they still have a video in the beginning of the tour with the company's matriarch and her daughter-in-law, also a friend and actually my next door neighbor growing up.

This is a video showing how candy canes are made. Fascinating.

I can't think of a single hard candy that I really like. I ate Werther's growing up, but nothing else really sticks out. I don't like peppermint candy at all either. Give me some chocolate any day over hard candy.

Least Favorite. ( Yuck. )
