What's The Difference? Lowe's Vs. Home Depot

Um... I didn't comment on this thread. Seems you quoted me by error.

@Ken555, in Reply #12, it seems @Bucky included a quote from you that's in another thread. Not sure how to do that. But his reply seems geared toward @Ty1on.

He probably had inadvertently used the +Quote

Which store is better really depends on the size and stock inventory of the store, imo. Both stores have similar products, financing and employee's. For small projects, both stores are competitive. Neither of these stores have the best of anything including special order items.

An established lumber yard and building center will have better items but they do cost more. Interesting is most people can't tell the difference between name brand junk and a high quality product.

Does anybody remember Home Depot Expo? It was supposed to be a more upscale HD with less tools and building supplies and more kitchens and other home improvements. A lot more furniture/design service. We had one out on LI. When they built the HD by us, everybody in town wanted an HD Expo, but they had stopped building them around that time.

I think the majority were in California.

I don't know if they still exist.

Google shows this page, from 2009: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2009-jan-27-fi-expo27-story.html

Yes I do! We bought a bunch of home decor, fake floral arrangements and stuff like that from Home Depot Expo in N. CA. They shut down after a couple of years.

Yes, there was one close to us in Dublin, CA. I'm pretty sure we bought stuff there and we also may have had them do a bid for a bathroom re-do (which we ended up not doing).

We ask For the "Old Person" and Military Discount in every store and restaurant. It is surprising how many places have it but you do not know unless you ask.

I like Lowes better and hubby likes Home Depot better. They are 2 blocks from each other, so sometimes we check both.

He does the big projects and HD seems more of a contractor type place.

Lowes has more home decor and outdoor furniture. I find it easier to shop because I am generally not looking fro lumber, nails ans such. I am looking for plants, chair cushions, seasonal decorations, etc.

Sorry. I can be dangerous with an iPad and no coffee!

it seems like most stores are always going through resets at any given time. Makes it very hard to find items at times, even for employees. That’s another reason I have a My Lowes account and do a lot or ordering online and wait for the email saying it’s ready for pickup. I still get the military discount. I’ve also registered now for the HD military program for the same reason. I absolutely hate walking around trying to find some5hing and having to hunt down an employee to help. Much easier for me to use the online ordering.

A few times, when I can't find something on a shelf, a store employee will look it up on a terminal or hand-held, and say: "I can order it for you, or you can go online and order it yourself."

In my mind, I reply, "I can also order it cheaper from Amazon."

I like the Lowe’s garden center. Where we live it has a much better selection of plant and bushes etc….Our Home Depot is a mile away but I drive 25 minutes to go to Lowe’s for garden items.
