What's the best bang for buck in terms of maintenance fees for RCI points received?

I currently own one timeshare that I use almost strictly for trading purposes. It's fully paid off (bought it 25 years ago for practically next to nothing). At the time I thought it was a great deal for what I was getting in the RCI system. Now, I'm not so sure. It runs me about $800 for which I get 53000 RCI points, so each point costs me about 1.5 cents in maintenance fees. That still isn't bad in my book, but does anyone do better these days? I suspect so... Tell me what's out there worth considering, especially if it has a low resale price.

One person posted on TUG that there were around 1 cent a point with Tree Tops Resort. Then someone else warned there could be unexpected special assessments pending if MFs are that low... Potentially lots of deferred maintenance.

I get 55000 RCI points for my summer week at Land of Canaan Resort. Annual maintenance fee is $525.

I have three different resorts that are slightly over 1 cent per point. One is now a Wyndham resort, it's now called Wyndham Grand Palms, and RCI Points do not transfer, but that one is $1,248 for 104,500 points. It's about 1.2 cents per point. It's still a good trader in weeks as well, gets a lot of TPU's for the MF's, for 2026 it's worth 65 TPU's, making it a very cheap trader in weeks.

Mansfield in Australia is at about 9/10 cent a point. That resort is going to end as a timeshare soon. I wish it was very soon, as I am tired of using RCI.

Fox Hills in Mishicot is right at 1.1 cent per point as well. $550 for 54,500 points.

Grandview in Vegas used to be great, but we will see how that goes with new management.

Grandview is .92 for the easy to get 1 bedroom like the one I am looking to give away (a 49k Triennial). There is a 2 bedroom 122k that i think beats that but I am not 100 percent on the MF.

Any other choices for good RCI points property to acquire.

Grandview Las Vegas is $950 for 122,000 points. I haven’t found one better

Another good one is Regal Vistas at Massanutten which is $750 for 89,000 points

I bought a resale Mexican 25 year right to use membership which deposits 200k points into RCI annually with a $563 annual pre-paid all inclusive fee.

It’s not a maintenance fee it’s actually just a 100% credit I have to pay and can use it for booking at the home resort. When I bought it second hand it came with multiple years of deposits held as credit so my 1st trip to the resort using the membership was free.

Yes it’s very rare and I’ve been looking for other instances of resort in Mexico using the same model but haven’t found another yet.

Sweet spot seemed to be between 2006 and early 2011 so there’s about 10 good years left on the 25 year RTU memberships with these good points exchange memberships

Basically free 200k RCI points every year?! Unbelievable. The resort is still running?

Yes exactly and honestly I thought that was normal since I bought it before discovering TUG and learning it was unique, so far. It’s been such a good deal I bought more.

Another one I have at the same resort was 230k points deposited under the same RCI program and has pre-paid all inclusive fee but I found a way to use up those nights booking others and making $50 USD a night booking folks. Membership nights can be used for booking or depositing into RCI. It had 1750 nights when I bought it. I kept the newest one with over 2000 nights for RCI points and the older one nights got used up booking folks.

The resorts still exist but were sold and operate under different names now. Was in Cancun as Blue Bay Getaway and Sea Adventure resorts when originally bought.

If you look up a lawsuit with RCI involving Mexican resorts you’ll find folks successfully sued RCI for selling tons of points for cheap and then took away ways they could be used. Each night deposited is worth about 2800 points in RCI and some folks bought thousands of nights as they originally could be used for booking RCI flights and car rentals. In the law suit it mentions another resort name doing the same activity but I’ve never found a contract to review and see if the same opportunities exist there too.

I bought another membership for the resort that’s weeks based in RCI and got 2066 nights or / 295 weeks I can use in RCI or at the resort. It was dated 2018 and I paid only $2k with no additional annual fees afterwards. Got it through SMTN and they didn’t know what they were selling. I think the resort issued it as a follow up to the lawsuit for the guy who sued them since they likely had to rewrite why was previously offered in the one he sued them for. Came with some added perks for additional discounts when booking.

The membership I bought 2nd hand was actually in the name of t( George T) whose the guy who successfully sued RCI but ended up getting divorced and their lawyer settling things thought it was a typical timeshare worth very little.

On that one I added 4 beneficiaries into the membership for the resort selling 50 nights to each party for $2500 USD so they can book as a member getting member beneficiary rates and perks. Each beneficiary can also buy up to another 100 nights each for $50 USD each so another $20k possible to be in the coming years.

I also get 5 resort weeks deposited into RCI weeks program at $199USD each a year and that gets me 10 weeks total and about 100-120 TPU’s in RCI. Occasionally they do the full 5 week deposit for $600 or $800 USD.

So I have 2 separate RCI points and weeks memberships I use with a total of 200k points and up to 120 TPU each year.
