Both hotels on Lanai are shut down for some time.

CJ's Steakhouse will close in a month and be replaced by an Italian Restaurant.

Native Hawaiians are unset about plans for additional astronomy work on Mauna Kea.

Coconut Palms, where Elvis sang, continues to degrade and become more of an eyesore than ever.

You can now fish for Peacock Bass, pound for pound the fightenest fish, in the reservoir just north of Poipu.

Longs Drugstore in Kaapa has moved to the Makai side of the road in a beautiful new store and still has 88 cent Hawaiian Calendars.

Alii Kai II timeshares, managed by Grand Pacific Resorts, have been completely remodeled and are very lux and Hoity Toity. 8-9*

Waioli Huiia Church, the green one, in Hanalei has an on-going drive to do some serious renovations to the property. Kahu Alpha Goto has recovered from his surfing accident in two feet of water! The church has combined choir and ukulele practice on Wed evening at the same time.

Lotsa changes in the two years since we were last on the islands.

The two things that don't change are the beauty of the people and the island.

Aloha,

Sterling, Kelina

I hear the cleanup started at the Coco Palms. Probably can't see it from the
Road. A lot of brush cleanup I heard. Enjoy and keep us posted. I'm there in
75 days.:D

Never went into CJ's...always went into Kapaa or Lihue for our steak dinners.

Additional Kauai Changes

More Moa (Chickens) at Princeville even with the guy shooting them with a pellet gun.

Alii Kai II's Ron Wright is not happy with the service provided by Grand Pacific Resorts and things are supposed to changed in 2016.

The Mediterian Gourmet had a kitchen fire early in 2015 and is open but not running on all cylinders yet. Call before going to find out the latest status 808-826-9875. No luau in Dec 2015. Surf wild today outside their restaurant with 20-30 foot waves!!

The seawall at Papakea has developed a sinkhole and is under repair.

IAO Valley park now charges $5.

Haleakala park charges $15. I put a twenty in the machine and received $10 in Susan Antony's back. The sign said $15 but the cost was $10.

Honolua Bay launch has been taken over by the locals. They had closed off access with caution tape and put up many signs.

The shortcut to the Pilani hwy from Wailea is closed off to the public.

The fitness center at the Valley Isle Resort has not been rebuilt. No insurance is what we heard.
