We purchased MSE last September and the paperwork in Virginia was lost so the title company has resent the deed and just now completed. In calling Marriott today (1/22) the confirm receiving but note it will be another 6-8 weeks before transferred into our name.
I have the original owners name and phone and can contact him to reserve for us, but MMC and MSE is now available in September (2 kids in school). We had hoped for a fun, historical summer vacation but looks like we are out of luck:annoyed: .
Marriott Advisor said that original owner could book a "strong week" and then once ownership transfers we could deposit and try to trade, my hesitancy has to do with trying to get time off along with good airfares to whereever in II is available.
Is it worth doing this or to book, then deposit and use the week sometime in the next 2 years? Any insights are appreciated.

It is well documented that the first year of use after a resale purchase you don't usually get a great week. I would just lock off and deposit both units in to II. I wish I had done this our first year. Instead I took a replacement 2BR week as all the weeks in our season were sold out. I later found out that I could often deposit the 1BR and studio and then trade them in to larger units. If I had locked off in that first year and subsequently the second, I would have two extra weeks sitting in II. :bawl:

II allows studios and 1 bdrm MSE lockoffs to trade into MMC ... good deal getting a 2 bdrm suite twice. The last two weeks of August are much easier to get than the previous 6 weeks - so if that's an OK time you might be able to book that. If not, II may be your best bet for prime weeks. Personally I find summer weeks in Williamsburg very hot and humid - not sure there was a day under 105 degrees last July 4 week. It was too hot even for free rounds of golf. May and June is the best time IMO ... or mid Sept to mid October (which is sometimes threatened by hurrican residuals). II may not have as many MSE/MMC deposits this year as they did not offer AC's for the first time that I can remember.
