What things will I need to buy for the kitchen when staying in Lagoon Tower and Grand Waikikian in December?

Sansei at Waikoloa closed 6/20/25.

I bring the following to every TS stay (these are packed in my checked luggage):
  • Coffee machine - Verismo type with coffee pods
  • salt/pepper and a few dry spices
  • food storage containers and zip-loc bags (gallon and quart sizes)
  • plastic wrap and a small folded-up sample of aluminum foil.
  • Small bottle of Olive oil
  • laundry detergent pods and shout
  • meat thermometer for grilling
  • Pumped hand soap
  • Night lights
  • Small container of Sugar
If the TS stay is drivable, then I add a large plastic bowl and a large frying pan for equipment. We will also bring coolers and some food.

This thread has been great. Thank you. I have purchased and will add ceramic knives to my TS supply box.

I was @Lagoon Tower in May. When we cooked in, the pots were OK, a little heavy for my use. I thought there was a blender over the Fridge Cabinet. All other utensils/ appliances worked fine. No BBQ grills but great restaurants: Monkeypod, Moku, Thommy Bahamas.

When we drive to our TS location, we bring with us a bin of supplies we use. It includes:

  • Salt, pepper and other dry spices
  • Any spice mix needed for the menu (Cajun for jambalaya, bbq rub for grilled or slow cooked meat)
  • Plastic freezer bags, both quart and gallon
  • Aluminum foil
  • Chip clips
  • Paper napkins
  • Dryer sheets
  • Laundry detergent
  • Spray cleaner for the counters
  • Wooden skewers
  • Packets of Parmesan cheese and crush red peppers
  • Waiters wine knife
  • Paper plates
  • Olive oil
  • Kitchen tongs
On top of all of that, we bring a slow cooker and, depending on the menu we create, a Dutch oven. We use the slow cooker at least twice on our longer trips. We traditionally will cook a port shoulder one night when we have the entire family and we also will do a chicken taco night in the slow cooker as well. I love trying to make some of the local cuisine in our kitchen. I’m sure it’s an abomination compared to what the locals cook, but it’s fun for me.

Never brought anything when we fly. We pack light and anything we don’t use, we just leave.
