What about on #2 if trading cost double the annual fee as staying at the home resort?

Re: #10 for all but one-off run down independent resorts, better put a 1, in front of your $650 annual budget. What you will get for much under $1,000/yr will be basically a hotel room with a kitchenette.

Timeshares are luxury goods, so be sure you've budgeted the necessities (secure job/housing/retirement/kiddos education/financial cushion before shopping timeshares.

Wishing you all the best!

I think a Worldmark membership would be a good fit for a person living in the North West. You would be able to book reservations at 13 months out and have use of bonus time & fax time. You could link your account to RCI off the Worldmark website and instead of exchanging, you could use cash to acquire extra trips. Many of the Worldmark Resorts are in the PNW and within driving distance.

Agree w Passepartout that your annual maintenance fee budget is way too low if you want to travel each year. Worldmark would be a good choice, but you'll need about $1100 for a week in high season in a 2 bedroom.
