Used our MKO lockoff rollover from 2019 (EOY). Do we just keep waiting? Tough getting 2 weeks vacation from work - would not be able to move to September or October

Hawaii Governor has closed the islands until 8/1

Any suggestions?

I am in the same boat, pretty much. I will wait it out but hoping if the governor is determined to keep us away, then he will just let us know now about August and the rest of the year. Don't keep us in suspense. I need to trade away these units, if I cannot go.

I have no idea if you can deposit a rollover week into II. But if you can and you don't already have an II account (either one of your own or the MVC corporate enrolled week account) then you should sign up for II around 65 days before August 21st in anticipation of having to deposit the week at 61+ days out. I deposited my Hawaii week at 62 days out.

I expect Gov Ige will announce if the quarantine requirement will be extended past July 31st around July 10th...that has been the pattern for the June and July extensions.

There is some good news. Inter-island travel is opening up June 16th. And Hawaii is putting in thermal imaging infrastructure that may allow visitors from places that have more or less eradicated COVID-19 to begin arriving August 1st - Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and Australia according to KHON's coverage.

There has also been talk from Lt. Gov. Green of allowing visitors without quarantine from those places still stricken with COVID-19 if they take a molecular test before they leave and again when or after they arrive. But last I read they are getting pushback on that plan from the FAA.

I know Hawaii has made an appropriation for COVID-19 testing equipment for their airports but don't know if they have purchased any machines - or indeed if any currently exist that meet their requirements for speed and accuracy. Once test machines are procured it is expected to take about two months for training and deployment.

My magic eight ball has been saying October 1st for a while now. Advances in COVID-19 molecular and antibody testing could bring that date forward. Or widespread presence of the virus on the mainland could push it back.

We are also in the same boat and I have come to realization that this vacation is most likely not happening. I am holding out until 61 days out but will most likely be canceling then. Are you at least allowed to bank your vacation hours? My husband's company went to the "unlimited vacation" model which is really 4 weeks per year, no banking, and if you want to take more than four weeks it requires all kinds of approval from upper management. So he is essentially losing all of his vacation this year unless we can figure out some way to travel because it's not going to get banked and it won't get approved in the future either. It's very frustrating.
