What resorts should I avoid on Oahu? I have ongoing searches in II and RCI

Location
The Centennial State
Resorts Owned
Wyndham; Disney OKW & SSR; Marriott's Willow Ridge, Shadow Ridge and Grand Chateau; Val Chatelle; Hono Koa OF (3); SBR(LOTS), SDO a few); WKORV-OFC-4 and Westin Desert Willow.
I just entered the entire island for both RCI and II, and once the resorts listed on II, I became concerned about some of those resorts. I guess I can turn something down, should it not have good reviews.

Which resorts have you visited or know about personally that are inferior?

Kuhio Banyan Club is in a convenient location in Waikiki, but it's not a "resort" by any means. All it amounts to are very small Studio rooms with half-kitchens and connecting doors to the adjacent Studio room. Open the connecting door and it equals a one bedroom. Staff is very sincere and try their best, but are severely limited by the building itself. There are no amenities except pay laundry down the hall. I wouldn't recommend staying there if you have any other choice.

(But as a former owner there, I will say the place exchanges like crazy - that was how I got to the Manhattan Club in September. )

Hawaiian Princess on Makaha Beach is in a remote location.

Granted, KB is not a 'resort' but we stayed there twice, once in 1992 and again a couple of years ago. It's in a great location and we found it to be clean and comfortable.

You're right on both counts. But anyone expecting a "resort" feeling will be disappointed. Cindy and Rick know all the tricks of timesharing, and I think they'd be happier staying elsewhere. I'm not trashing the place, just saying there are better choices available.

Kuhio Banyan

Don't stay there or any place which shows the lobby as their picture. We stayed once and have stayed that was once too many although the location is good and the people working there friendly. We own four weeks at the Waikiki Banyan and it is sort of resortlike but but no means fancy. I would rate the Kuhio a two ot three and the Waikiki Banyan a six. About the same as the Imperial. The Hilton is better and has a great location and Marriott's K Olina very nice but remote. We don't like the remoteness of Makaha at all but some people love it because it is off the beaten path
Have fun . The resort is a small part of the trip to Hawaii.
