What is the value of an RCI point

I have seen the grid of how many points are required for a week around the country and outside of it.

Where I am still a bit confused is on using RCI points for items such as Disney passes, airfare, car rental, etc. Is there a point to dollar conversation ratio that RCI has for points or is it a set amount of points for a specific item.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bill

Bill,

This topic has come up before, and I was able to get an explanation from our Points management team as follows:

The pricing for rental of points to complete a “core” Points transaction (home resort reservations & other resort exchange options) is not equal to the credit provided for points applied to a Points Partners transaction (air, car, cruise, etc.) These two programs are separate from each other and RCI experiences significant operational and cost differences associated with them. The specific cost of each product is just one component in the calculation of the points values for Points Partners transactions.

Madge,

I understand that the value you get for the partners transactions probably is less than when exchanging for inventory. However, I assume that a point is a point for things such as air fare and car rental and that a rental from one carrier for same item may differer in points much the same way the cost in dollars differs. My question is that is there a way to search for availability and cost if you aren't a points member yet.

I would assume that data would be available much the same way the grid for weeks values are available.

Thanks

Bill

Bill,

I'm not aware that any lists or grids exist in hardcopy and am not sure whether there are electronic versions. It may be that our system holds the pricing behind the scenes and simply provides requested quotes. I'll see what I can find out.

Bill,

There is a Points Partners catalog that provides point values; however, this is connected to your RCI Points account and is mailed along with your directory.

It's important to mention that our agreements with various vendors to provide Points partners products are often not the best prices you could find on your own. Points Partners was created simply to provide another avenue for members to use their points.
