what happens when retro sold

I own a 2br lockout at vistana cascades bought as resale in 2006. Starwood retroed the unit when I purchased an EOY small 1 br. The lockout has staroptions, starpoints and is in SVN. If I were to sell in future would it stay in SVN? If I gave it to my adult children, would it stay in SVN. Thank for your help!!

If you sell it, the staroptions & starpoints would not transfer as it's not a mandatory resort.

I believe you can transfer ownership to your children (or let them inherit it when the time comes), and they would keep the SVN membership--at least you can with non-mandatory resorts, and I think that would be the same case here. I would confirm that with Starwood first.

Just curious--when did you complete your retro?

Glorian is correct - the Staroptions and Starpoints do not transfer when you sell any timeshare from a voluntary resort. The fact that it was requalified doesn't make any difference. A week bought from the developer is treated the same way.

If your kids inherit it, both should transfer, but make sure you clarify that with SW before transferring it to them.

Thank you Glorian and Denise. Your replies make sense. I retroed the annual 2 br lockout for just the purchase of an EOY small 1 br in February 2007. I was surprised that they would do it for such a small purchase but I was thrilled. By the way I paid $ 9500 for the annual lockout in 2006.
