what draw you to Mexico?

The people especially, the culture and of course the great food and the ice cold cerveza on the beach, say at the Office or Baja Cantina, Solomons, oh my guess I'm thinking about October already:hysterical:

Will you be there for Sammy"s Birthday Bash ? Sammy and the Waborita's will be in Cabo this October.

Me gusto Mexico mucho!!!

I really love Playa Del Carmen, Cancun, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Cabo San Lucas, and San Jose del Cabo. We are planning vacations to Puerto Vallarta, Matazlan, Ixtapa, and Acupulco over the next five years. (We went to Puerto Rico two years ago and visited Spain and the Canary Islands this year.)

On the other hand, we have been to Hawaii four times in the past 20 years. I prefer Maui, Kaui, and the Big Island. Good times are there to had as well.

I saw on this board that many Tuggers fly down to Mexico every year and year after year. I'm wondering what draws you to Mexico?

beaches?
cultures?
luxury resorts?
relatively lower cost comparing to the vacations in the US at same level ?

If you would rank the following locations:
1) Cancun
2) Cabo
3) NV
4) Hawaii

What's your rank for beach quality?
What's your rank for vacation expense minus airfare (airfare not included since it would depend on your relative distance to these destinations)
What's your rank for family friendliness?

A poll for fun~~~

Our situation is different than most as my wife is Mexican, we lived in Mexico and I am fluent in Spanish. We have spent many timeshare vacations there at the Royals in Cancun, Grand Mayans in both Riviera Maya and Nuevo Vallarta, other timeshares in Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. We have also done the tourist thing at La Paz, and Cabo. The big draw for us is the people as we have many friends there and make more every time we visit. We associate with the local folks rather than the foreign tourists. Another big draw is the quality of the resorts. Our favorites by far are the Grand Mayans. And of course we enjoy the cultural attractions, especially in the Riviera Maya area ( 20 miles south of Cancun ). We have spent 2 consecutive weeks at the Grand Mayans each of the past five years. These resorts are full blown luxury resorts with all the amenities and awesome service. La Paz is our favorite city in Mexico.

I would rank the areas as follows:

1. Riviera Maya - best cultural attractions
2. Nuevo Vallarta - best beach

We wouldn't stay at Cabo nor Mazatlan. We only visit Mazatlan because we have family that live near there. I haven't been to Hawaii so can't judge that though we are planning on going next April.

That is such a good question. We went to Mexico for the first time two years ago and have been back 4 times since then! Two in winter, two in summer. For us in the Midwest it is a very easy direct flight, 2-3 hours. That makes it wonderful. The beautiful blue ocean, the wonderful resorts, the weather, and the fabulous service, that is what makes Mexico so endearing. We are definitely hooked. I want to go everywhere, have made a vacation plan for the next 10 years.... how is that for obsessive! anyway..... Mexico makes it in the plan pretty much every year, just because I can't imagine not going again and again. I just love it!!!

Sue

I am curious where you can fly from Iowa to Mexico in 2 hours?
