Hi All, I am thinking of buying Wyndham points. They are at "Resort A". The ad on eBay advertises it is for a two bedroom unit. When I look at the chart from 2014-2015, all I can find, the 154,000 points will only get a studio at Resort A. Is there a different point chart for owners at a given Wyndham resort for getting into that home resort?

154000 points is generally enough to get a two bedroom in prime season at one of the old Fairfield resorts

Give me a link to the eBay ad and I may be able to make some sense of it

And the answer to the question posed in the title of your post is....yes

In my opinion the contract is not worth the closing and transfer costs.

May 31st a 126k annual Royal Garden contract sold for $306 with closing and transfer fee paid by seller Seans0302 which is a very good reseller to buy from.

I stayed at that resort twice and had no problem booking 10 months before check-in with other points.

Two bedroom means nothing, 154,000 points will only get a studio with a king bed and no stove.

Also, the photos are misleading, the ocean is far away, it's near the canal.

That said, we like the resort.

Each resort has its own point chart and all owners operate off the same point charts. Something you didn't ask but should know is that when a resort comes into the system it is given a point chart and it will never change.

As Ron P. said that 154,000 will get you a week at the older resorts but not even a few week nights at the new resorts. Don't stick up your nose at those older resorts. It doesn't mean they are run down or not worth staying at just that they have been in the system the longest. The older resorts with the lower point charts that we've stayed at we've been very happy with and have either gone back to or would go back to.

Ok, my thinking is getting clearer with all your good info. Before today I had never looked at a points chart and just blindly thought what the eBay ads read is true at first glance. I think the title on the ad was misleading- you know what they say, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. I just thought perhaps the home resort where points were owned got a discount, rather than the answer I'm getting from the broker/seller is that he put up the points along with the 2 bedroom not knowing what resort I'd be interested in- So, the points chart from 2015-2016, the only one I can find online is still accurate for any resort in it, per Jan M. Many 2 bedrooms I'd like to visit are available to me with 154,000 points. I am a Hawaii lover. So, what advantage do I have by being an "owner" at the Royal Garden rather than elsewhere and reserving in?

At your home resort you can book reservations at 13 months and 10 months at other resorts. Being able to book at 13 months is a big advantage if reservations are hard to find at this resort or you want to be able to go at peak or holiday times.

Also owning at this resort may give you membership in the Outrigger Club. I own at a resort in the Outrigger Club and am sorry to say I know pretty much nothing about it. I only got the deed because I liked the low maintenance fees. Now that my husband is retired we may actually get to Hawaii so I should find out more about it. Hopefully OP will post and we can both learn about it..

EBay sellers have to fill out a form to get there stuff in the system and the form dosent account for all the various timeshare systems for example there is no red season in Wyndham.. We dont do red, white and blue seasons,, we do Prime, High Value Quiet and something else I dont remember.. We dont do weeks, we do points What sellers do is just fill in the form with something that sounds good

Bottom line, and this is advice I have given here on TUG, for a long time, to anyone that will listen,

if you want to bid on ebay, you need to know the product and know your seller (at least by reputation)

An update: I got outbid on eBay which is perfect for now. I got into learning gear much faster than I might have without having been top bidder for a day or two! Thanks everyone for sharing all your knowledge. We have access to a fixed week at a resort we know and love, but want to find one of our own and I truly appreciate your help.
