I find that reporting smoking to security at resorts is pretty useless. First, they take forever to respond. By the time they've shown up to look into it the smoker is long gone and the smell is dissipated. When they do show up, all security really does is walk around outside to see if they see someone smoking.

We had an issue at a Disney's Saratoga Springs. After checking in, our room started to reek like weed. I looked outside from the patio and saw no one, I also didn't smell it outside. We have experience like this in the past. What usually happens is people smoking it in the bathroom thinking the fan will carry it out. The problem is that the venting in the same stack of rooms are connected together with a booster fan on the roof. If there is a problem with the fan on the roof, it can cause the smell to enter the other rooms above it in the stack. I suggested that they check the room below ours. They wouldn't and said they can't. Even though they claim to come in to every room every day for some type of "room check". They couldn't check that room. We've had the smell in our room at Marriott's Grande Chateau and also at Marriott's OceanWatch. One time I could also smell it coming in through the patio door at Sheraton Vistana Villages. I called the front desk and all they had someone do was walk around outside looking at patios. Security probably only stops 1% of reported cases.

I did see where someone mentioned in the Club Wyndham forum where they had taken photos of a balcony below theirs of all the paraphernalia and the group got evicted.

Carry a Super Soaker to out it out. I am laughing about all the folks smoking, Marijuana. It has been Main Stream long enough that there are now Studies/Research getting published that guess what smoking Marijuana is just as bad for a person as smoking tobacco.
but more fun....:)

We reported it at The Cove and they "inspected" but couldn't figure out who was doing it.

Interesting. Not from the studies I've seen inasmuch as cigarettes contain a lot more than just tobacco, and these additives, not found in joints, are the real harm. But we can all find stuff to support whatever we want to demonstrate. Also, not generally possible to smoke as much weed as folks can smoke cigarettes. Well, not and function :)

Cheers.

Both my wife and I find cigarette smoke the most offensive; weed or vapes don't bother us that much. While I have smelled weed regularly, I can only think of one time at a timeshare that it bothered me. There was a group smoking a lot of weed on their lanai at Kingsland early in the morning while I was trying to eat my breakfast outside.

I would pitch a fit and really fight to have something done - if I can't breath in my unit, that's not OK. And I can't do that with the weed smell. I'd move units. Outside, ok I will be grumpy about it but it's not affecting me sleeping etc.

I would like to see them do more TBH - I by law in a lot of states shouldn't have to have second hand smoke.

have a bigger issue with the "smoking areas" being right near entrances and exits than anything, folks smoking in a smoking section is just them following the rules.

having to walk thru the aroma of tobacco (or weed) smoke walking kids to and from the pool isnt a pleasant experience for most people.

Usually, smoke doesn't bother me. If it does, I just tell them the smoke bothers me. Sometimes they tell me where to go but most of the time they go somewhere else.

The only people smoking at the Hawaii resorts were the Japanese. The Americans don't smoke.
Not entirely accurate. I smoke cigars at every resort we go to in Hawaii and see many Americans and Canadians in the smoking areas. Have had many enjoyable conversations with these folks. Strange, but I have never seen any Japanese…. But you are correct, they are heavy smokers…

I went out on our balcony and immediately smelled marijuana smoke. It didn't take long to find the source. Occupants that were on this balcony went inside right after I saw them. I took this photo and showed it to the front desk with the unit number. The occupants were evicted and some other penalty imposed because they were repeat offenders. This was not at a HGVC resort. See Post #26 above.

Can't Carnival Cruises open a timeshare for these types to stay? Get them out of Marriott.

I just hope I don't get run over or crashed into by some pot smoker driver who "is just fine - I ain't stoned"

You are soooo right … I would love ❤️ to smell brownies everyday and night 👍
Ha! When we were first married (1969), we lived across the street from a Wonder/Hostess bakery. If we woke up around two o'clock AM, we'd smell freshly baked Wonder Bread coming out of the oven. That wasn't so bad. But every Sunday, at 2 PM, they ran the Hostess cupcakes and the warm chocolate smell was almost irresistible.

Seeing many folks smoking at HGVC locations (at Bay Club, KL currently), in common areas at HGVC (rather than designated smoking areas)...
Curious re everyone's thoughts and what folks (would) do...
TY!
