What can I do with 4400 RCI points?

I've got some unused HGV points that are going to expire 12/31. I can deposit to them to RCI (4400 points). Being almost totally unfamiliar with RCI points, I'm wondering what you can do with that many points in RCI? One-bedroom off season for a week?

I don't know anything about HGV but I do use RCI points quite a bit almost always for "7 Night Exchanges under 10k Points". These are kind of like last call but with a better selection and most require 7500 points irregardless if it is a studio or a 3 bedroom. Points members can purchase additional points from RCI for 3 cents each to get to that 7500 level but the 4400 points you are trying to save is only worth $44 to $75 to begin with so it may not be worth the trouble.

As mentioned above RCI has a section to look for a 7 night stay for less than 10K points but it is rare to find one costing less then 7,500 points. When RCI has a sale on (as they do now, 30% off required points) they don't seem to discount the under 10K points resorts at all. A few years ago I had 4,000 points leftover and could not find anything to use them on. I didnt want to pay RCI's fees to extend them to the next use year so I just let them expire. I am usually pretty good at booking resorts that use up most of our points. This year we had 50 points left.

Booking a shorter stay will not necessarily use less points, they are often more points, plus you need to pay a housekeeping fee on top of the exchange fee.

You can rent points directly from RCI at 3 cents per point. That would be the only cost I would be interested in acquiring. If you have to pay for RCI membership, to convert your points to RCI points, or any other fees, then it may not be worth it.

Log into RCI and run a search for places under 10k points. Then apply location and other filters. You can find units as low as 6k points. The extra 2k points for something you like will only cost you $60. Of course there is an exchange fee of $299 when you make a reservation. Also watch out for resorts with resort fees.

They don't become "RCI Points" when deposited into RCI. That is a completely separate currency, and 4400 rci points is not very many. 4400 HGVC in rci should get a 1br anytime/anywhere (subject to avail, obviously) or a low season 2br iirc.

Does this apply to both HGVC and HGV? The OP said HGV and you said HGVC.
If it applies to both, then the next question is: does the RCI deposit extend usage for 2 years like other deposits?

There are plenty of short stays available. I’ve been using the Worldmark properties a lot. One thing I realized is that is quite often cheaper to just book a 7 day Worldmark than a short stay because then there is no cleaning fee.

As mentioned above, RCI points and HGV points in RCI are two different things. 4400 points will get you something but you’ll have to pay the RCI deposit and exchange fees. Maybe search around now to see if it’s worthwhile to you.

If you reserve before the end of the year, you won’t have to pay the deposit fee.

The HGVC RCI portal doesn't have those features - you need an RCI Points account. The original question is malformed as said by others - you have to see what you can get by looking at the RCI portal INSIDE HGVC's system. I know 7700 HGVC points will get 2BR, I see on the system 5440 gets a 1BR. So I think you might net a studio with 4400 points. I think the rate is fixed by amount of bedrooms, I don't think there are many discounts.
