What are my options if I can not use a reserved week?

We have our week reserved [at a Marriott resort in a couple of mos.] Due to some extremely unfortunate circumstances we may not be able to go that week or any week close to it. I'm fairly confident that we can get the airfare refunded as there are more than one medical reasons that may prevent us from going.

What are my options, if any, for my week?

I should have added more to my post. I am not looking to rent it. It is inside the 60 day exchange period. Can I deposit my week with II or possibly schedule it for a later date? Would Marriott let me use it in Gold season due to extreme circumstances?

Can't you just change the reservation to a later date that would work for you if it's more than 60 days out? Marriott charges $35 for the change.

ETA - Never mind.. just saw your added post.. :)

You can only change the date within platinum season. I think I would change it to later within the platinum season assuming something is available, then deposit with II. That will get your deposit outside the 60 days.

I don't think OP can change the reservation dates since it is now within the last 60 days. A late deposit with II is possible, however, if it is at least 14 days before check-in. An exchange could then be made during Flexchange to at least get some value from the week. This would be a good time to have the MVCI travel insurance.

I didn't realize there was a prohibition on changing the reservations dates within 60 days...good to know.

I talked to an advisor last night and the only option I have is to deposit the week with II. At least that's something.

On another note, I asked if the DC points would give us a less change of exchanging and she said so far it wouldn't as on 18 percent have joined.
