what airport for Alexandria resort

We want to take a cab or shuttle to Wyndham Alexandria and just use the metro for the 5 days before we go to Williamsburg for a week. Which is the best airport to fly into? Should be get rental car from airport or off airport? I have a million questions but I will start with this one. Thanks!

I think Washington Reagan would be best for Alexandria.

The metro line goes from the Washington Reagan airport to the metro stop in Alexandria. The Wyndam is just a few blocks from the station. Depending on the amount of luggage and time of day, it may be possible to use the metro.

Otherwise, take a cab.

The cab ride from Reagan is about 10 minutes and $20-$25 with tip if I remember right. Old Town Alexandria is a superb location and you will LOVE the Wyndham. King Street Metro is about a block away.

It is a quick metro ride back to the airport, so I think I'd chose rental car for best rates, taking into consideration if you are flying out of Reagan.
