What’s the weirdest, embarrassing, strangest event you saw by accident while travelling?

I kind of added this topic into a series because they all follow the same theme.

Here’s my most strange experience that I encountered by accident on one of my travels.

I was walking along a quiet beach near Puerto Vallarta. It was a beautiful night. The wind was gently whispering across the Ocean. The sun was quietly setting and it was a beautiful red colour. The peace I felt was all around me.

At the end of the beach, there was a rock formation blocking my way so I simply climbed over the rocks. As I was approaching the top, I heard a series of grunt sounds. Huh? That’s strange. It was so peaceful on the other side....

Then....

Errr. Whoopie (or whoopsie) happened....

A large group of men and women were performing for a porn movie...


Well, after I turned beet red and got over my shock, I slowly backed down the rocks and headed back home.

Many years ago we rented bikes in Amsterdam and took off from the main area along a quiet bike path near a stream. As we are riding along we ran into 2 young ladies strolling along totally naked. Apparently we were in the midst of a nudist colony.

This didn't happen on holiday, but working IT for a bank at the time and we were on a triage conference call that lasted for hours. During a gap when on of the participants was gathering data, another participant had a knock down drag out argument with their significant other on the unmuted line. Priceless. I think the triage manger had stepped away for dinner, because he was sharp enough to have had the operator mute the line. We were just to shocked to say anything.

My first trip out to California in 1980 we were planning to see the ocean for my first time driving along highway 1 you would see a cluster of cars parked so you knew easy beach excess was close. We randomly picked a cluster and walked out on a nude beach area.
Strolled thru the middle to the beach dipping my toes in the ocean turned around casually walked off into the sunset back to our car.
Was a shock to a 18 yr old Ohio boy !

I was in a van with my mother and my gal pal, teen years for us, when we were passed by a vehicle which then suddenly had 4 butts in the window of their station wagon.

Mom was laughing so hard she had to slow down and nearly pull over.

We were in NY City on an exchange, and I had my 11 year old niece with me. We took her to the Museum of Natural History and she stayed 2 nights with us. As we were walking to Penn Station to board the train home, we saw someone getting arrested. It was the only thing she talked about for months. (she was a fan of the show Cops)

I was in Miami Beach for a conference several years ago and there were a couple of topless ladies sunbathing on the beach one afternoon when me and a buddy went for a walk. It's not necessarily a sign of bad vacations if you claim not to remember them; might be a sign of having discretion instead....

Went to see Hamilton in San Francisco a few years ago and the Gay Pride event happened to be taking place that weekend. So we decided to explore the event while we were waiting. We saw many older men with rings on their private parts and topless women with nipple covers. I never expected to see this in public.

Funny, reminds me of many years ago when I was also in Puerto Vallarta and walked along the beach right by Blue Chairs by the sea resort. Interesting hotel. Great location! Dudes everywhere in very revealing Speedo’s. Different strokes for different folks. I just had a chuckle and moved on. One dude kindly offered to buy me a drink. Nice of him but I wasn’t thirsty at the time It’s all good.

Strangest thing on vacation is we just pulled off the freeway into a family type restaraunt above the freeway exit. As we sat down with our 2 young kids we saw a car suddenly start going backwards at a high rate of speed back down from the exit ramp. The car flipped off and into the planting area after flipping a few times. Some people exiting after them ran from their car and helped the four older people get out of the car and none seemed injured.
A 2nd incident we saw on vacation was in Florida with my wife,son, and a friend of my son when they were 13 or 14 years old. We were on the turnpike (I think that's what it's called) and going at 65 or so when a car about 6-7 cars in front of us suddenly shot across all the lanes from slow to fast and into the center dirt area and suddenly their tires started spinning seemed to catch the dirt and shot across the opposite way without hitting or getting hit by any cars and crashed into a wall. By then we were quite a bit past so don't know if anyone was hurt or not. Scared us to death just watching it and something the 2 boys have never forgot.

And if you haven't been naked on a nude beach, next time you're near one (Little Beach on Maui is nice) take the trip and join in! Nothing like beaching in the buff - especially if it starts to rain. Very odd sensation!

Weirdest thing to happen on our vacation. Back in 1978, DW (long haired Blonde) & I took a road trip to Capitol Reef NP. At the time, I sported Big Afro & beard. My Hawaiin friends think I look Hawaiin & my Somoan friends think I look Somoan. I am neither.
As we were heading south, I noticed a sheriff’s vehicle heading north. I also noticed the patrol car change his direction to go south. He followed us to a metro area & we stopped for lunch at a pizza placed. We were shown a table towards back of restaurant. The deputy came in& sat by front door at a table. He had coffee & water. We finished & paid the bill. We noticed him coming out & getting into his car. He followed us out of town. He continued to follow us until we drove over the county line & then he turned back to head north.

One day on St Martin we went to the nude beach on Cupucoy. On purpose. We were ever going to see these folks again.
One of the guys walking around had tattoos on 99 or maybe 100 % of his body.
And guess who was on our snorkeling trip the next day.

Well the theme of this seems to be car accidents and nude sunbathing...

We were at HHV in Lagoon Tower and walked out to the beach near where they shoot off the fireworks. I guess the couple were from Europe because the lady took off her top and proceeded to relax on the beach. My sons eyes were popping out so we didnt stay long, I tried not to say anything. On the way back to the room I asked his grandpa if he saw the sights on the beach, he missed it. When we got up to the room grandpa ran out to the balcony with his binoculars, my son just said “Grandpa, you’re too late!”

I was driving home in a heavy rain after work, from Oakland to Concord through the Caldecott Tunnel. Coming down the hill from the tunnel, four lanes of traffic, I was in the fast lane. There was a stream of water running across all lanes, when I hit it my car hydroplaned. I did a complete 360 spin at 65mph in the fast lane, then my tires caught the grooves again and I carried right on driving. It was surreal to slowly rotate around looking at the car behind and then beside me.

My father's experience:

He was driving on Grand Central Parkway in New York when the car in front of him, a Volkswagen Beetle, suddenly veered off and rolled over. He pulled over to see if he could help and was shocked to see the two occupants covered in red gore. When he came near them they laughed and yelled, "cherry pie!! cherry pie!!". They weren't hurt at all; the red gore was the remains of a cherry pie the passenger had been holding on her lap for the trip home from a bakery.
